Walford Hotspots

Welcome to the Walford Hotspot. Each week an actor or actress from EastEnders will take the online hotseat and be interrogated!

This week... Leanne Lakey, aka drama queen and Slater sister Belinda Peacock:

Who or what inspired your interest in acting?
I actually originally did a lot of training as a dancer and at that age I was quite a large girl! In order to become one I had to lose a lot of weight, which I couldn’t do but I knew I still wanted to be involved in the arts in some way. There was this teacher who was like a mentor to me. I was encouraged to follow acting instead and I got myself into drama school.

If you could invite any five people in history to a dinner party, who would you invite?
Helen Mirren, Dustin Hoffman, Robert de Niro, Al Pacino and Angelina Jolie. I can imagine they would be really interesting to talk to about acting.

Boots or Trainers?
Trainers as they are more comfortable but I do love high heels!

Who are your favourite comedians?
Lee Evans. He's a very physical comedian.

Can you disclose the contents of your bag please?
My wallet, my phone and my hairbrush, which I never leave home without!

Is there a particular direction you would like to see your character go in?
I would love to find out why Belinda is the way she is. It would be interesting to explore her relationship with the rest of the family and what is really going on with Neville (Belinda's husband). But that’s up to the writers.

Who would be your neighbour from hell if you lived in Albert Square?
It would have to be Kat who always seems to be screaming and shouting! I have to say do love Jessie though!

What is your earliest childhood memory?
Playing in the sand when I was three in my Nan and grandad’s back garden. All I can remember is feeling so happy.

Sum up your character in three words?
Lonely, eccentric and lost!
