Shakti's
Morrowind Site

Shakti has also been known as:

  • Red Monika from Asheron's Call - I was part of the team that completely cracked the taper system and I documented how it all worked for the general AC populace.
  • Vampi/Lusti from Anarchy Online - I wrote the widely used PvP guides and developed one of the more comprehensive weapon calculators.
  • Shakti from Dungeon Seige - I explained how stats work and developed a stat calculator for planning development of your character.

I post as Red Monika on the official Morrowind forums and as Shakti on the Morrowind Summit forums.

Hi folks, welcome to my Morrowind site

I am not usually a fanboy about games. In fact, I'm usually known for my (constructive) criticism about most of the games I've been heavily involved with.

Morrowind is a different story. I'm going on record here and stating flat out that Morrowind is the best game I've ever played. I've never felt compelled to say something like that about a game ever before. This game rocks on so many levels, even with the bugs and warts and blemishes that snuck into the retail release.

What makes Morrowind special is that it is so completely open-ended and non-linear. There are literally hundreds of different things to do, and with the exception of a very few gentle nudges at the start of the game, Bethesda leaves it entirely up to you to decide what you want to do. It's like being in a huge MMORPG world, only it's just you and literally hundreds of NPCs and monsters. And many of the quests are interesting, engaging, and sometimes ingenious.

And the game editor, although poorly documented, is actually very easy to use. I've never ever attempted game mods before, but I've already produced several mods for the game and feel like I know my way around the editor, dialogs, and scripting quite well now. Really the only thing that is even slightly difficult to do with the editor is to create and texture new terrain. Everything else you might want to do is very simple once you get the hang of it.

What's New!
10-August-2002

I've updated all my plug-ins for the v1.2.0722 patch so that you'll no longer get the error message about "one or more plug-ins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on..." message, at least not for any of my plug-ins. I've created a new document that tells you how to update all of your existing plug-ins to be compatible with new patches when they come out.

I've also made some small changes to my Players Guide to more accurately describe how leveling up works post patch 1.1.

Also, here's are two tips I've received from Jeffrey Yu and Edward Batutis regarding ways to get the secret master trainer for Enchanting to stop fighting you and allow you to talk to him. I suggest two tricks in my Shakti Book of Secrets and in my Players guide, but Jeffrey and Edward had two other great ideas. Apparently, if you use Calm Humanoid or Command Human spells on the Enchant trainer, he'll stop attacking you and you can talk to him. Also, Klaus Vancamelbeke reported that he could use 80% Chameleon to sneak up on the Enchant trainer similar to what I describe doing with Invisibility. He also found that if you then bribe Qorwin to 100 percent disposition towards you and from that point never approach him with a weapon equipped, he won't attack you. Thanks for the tips, guys--I'll get this info into my book of secrets the next time I have an opportunity to edit it.

What's on this Site

My Players Guide - Various tips, suggestions, and observations about playing the game.

My Modding Guide - coming soon, unless somebody else writes a killer guide first.

My Plug-Ins - I've developed several very useful plug-ins, including some that fix important bugs with the game. Trust me, you want some or all of these plug-ins.

Some Other Sites I Highly Recommend

Bullhonkie's FAQ - Bullhonkie has written up a very good-looking and useful FAQ that covers a lot of ground. Between my Players Guide and Bullhonkie's FAQ, we answer pretty much all the burning questions.

Morrowindfiles.com - This is the best site for Morrowind plug-ins, bar none. This will become one of the bookmarked sites you visit all the time.

BTW - If you're curious to see what other weird stuff Shakti is into, check out my Didjeridu Site.
