Frederic Dorr Steele

Frederic Dorr Steele was inarguably the greatest American illustrator of the Canon and possibly better than England's finest, Sidney Paget. Steele is best known for the ten full-color frontispieces he drew for Collier's He provided illustrations for The Return, His Last Bow and the CaseBook. I have included my favorite Holmes drawing, plus a few of his other black and white pictures. See his color photos on individual pages. They are too good too shrink down.
