LMO introductory workshop. At the ARM workshop held in San Fancisco last year, I conducted a mini-workshop on LMOs for the group of participating juniors. It was well received, and I can only encourage people to hold workshops on LMOs. Here's the template: lmointro.doc. (It's still a draft though, and comments are welcome.)

Sing when you're ViNing. As a result from the IPP held in Bergen, Norway last, the participants put together a manual that explains, which activities can be done with a group of kids, like - in their case - immigrants and Norwegians. The IPP was calles "Verden in Bergen" (The world in Bergen) and as a follow up other Norwegian cities will host similar projects with the name "Verden in Norge" (short: ViN). So if you plan to conduct a Local Work activity, involving non-CISV kids, I can highly recommend this manual. Please download: VINmanual.pdf

Red Lake Project.. More than two years ago, CISV Toronto (Canada) started a partnership with a small indian community in the Red Lake Reserve and in July 2000 a youth leadership camp was hosted very succesfully. You can read more about it and find pictures on CISV Canadas Website. Unfortunately due to lack of human ressources there was no continuation in the past two years, but today we are happy to report that a new leadership workshop for youth age 13-16 from the Red Lake reserve and Toronto will be hosted in July next year. Please contact Savita for details.

Intercultural Communication Spain. This Seminar will be held in Spain from the 18th of August to the 7th September. About the purpose: The European Union is formed by 15 Member States with 11 different languages, plus is preparing for the accession of 13 eastern and southern European countries with different languages and cultures. In order to bring unity and harmony, it is necessary that all the different societies start to learn more about their neighbors traditions, values and language, and, on the other hand, try to avoid any racist feeling, prejudices or even topics. The aim of this purpose is to have a more united European Community, ready to participate actively in the new coming United Europe. In order to achieve these goals it is necessary to prepare the society for multiculturalism. Offering more language courses is one solution, but still it doesn't cover all the other aspects concerning communication and cultural understanding. Our exchange, Intercultural Communication will focus on these potential problems and the group will work to find solutions to them.
