CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 8, 2003 - Air Midwest flight 5481, a Beechcraft-1900 going from Charlotte, N.C., to Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C., has been involved in an accident in Charlotte. It has been confirmed that that the aircraft carried 19 passengers and two crewmembers.

Authorities also have confirmed that there are no survivors. The aircraft struck a US Airways maintenance hangar at the airport. There are no injuries among US Airways employees working at that hangar and all of these employees have been accounted for.

Flight 5481 was operating as a US Airways Express flight.

The entire US Airways family is deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life. Working in cooperation with Air Midwest, we are doing everything possible to help the families of the passengers and crew through this difficult time.
