For Christians, like the Baha'is, who consider the Gospels as the reliable word of God, there are many correlations between the Bible and the Baha'i Faith. In the Baha'i Holy book, the Kitab-i-Iqan (page 89) defends the Bible by referring to it as the heavenly Gospel. Abdul'l-Baha says "This book is the Holy Book of God, of celestial Inspiration. It is the Bible of Salvation, the Noble Gospel. It is the mystery of the Kingdom and its light. It is the Divine Bounty, the sign of the guidance of God."
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Cor. 2:13-14)
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. (Luke 4:4)
He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. (Deut. 8:3)
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ( 1 John 4:1)
By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has coming the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. (1 John 4:2-3)
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. (Matt 7:15-20)
Reflect how Jesus, the Spirit of God, was, notwithstanding His extreme meekness and perfect tenderheartedness, treated by His enemies. So fierce was the opposition which He, the Essence of Being and Lord of the visible and invisible, had to face, that He had nowhere to lay His head. He wandered continually from place to place, deprived of a permanent abode. (Gleanings, page 57)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Gal 5:22-23)
The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name. ( Zech. 14:9)
Prophecy of When the Second Coming Will Take Place
It will take 2300 evenings and mornings (2300 years), then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated (cleaned and restored)... Understand that the vision concerns the time of the end. (Daniel 8:13,14,17) NIV
In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. (Isa 2:2-4)
The Universal House of Justice has its seat at the Baha'i World Center on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land.
The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God. (Isa 35:1,2)
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isa 9:6)
The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. (Isa 62:2)
And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor (now called Akko) a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me". (Isa 65:10)
There I will give her back her [Israel] vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor (now called Akko) a door of hope. There she will sing as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt. [i.e. when Moses was with them]" (Hosea 2:15)
Baha'u'llah fulfilled prophecies written thousands of years ago. Two separate governments imprisoned Baha'u'llah in precisely the same as city (Achor) as predicted in the next two passages where Hosea and Isaiah both say God will feed his flocks. Baha'u'llah was imprisoned for forty years in the city of Achor. The Kitab-i-Aqdas was revealed in that city as well as the vast majority of Baha'u'llah's revelation. Towards the end of Baha'u'llah's life, He was permitted to leave the walled city of Achor and to sojourn in the surrounding countryside. Baha'u'llah did not come to Achor by His own free will, but as a prisoner and an exile, under the edicts of two separate governments (Persia and the Ottoman empire). (adapted from Danny J. Blubaugh's newsgroup letter)
For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. (Matt 16:27)
When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. (John 15:26)
He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you. (John 16:14)
Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. (Rev 3:12)
