Beavis & Butthead Do U. © GT Interactive

Beavis & Butthead are back, not on the TV (thank god), but on your PC (oh no!). They are back in a new adventure where they go to college trying to score with college chicks. There first adventure game, Virtual Stupidity, was actually a really fun game, and was actually very decent and still worth checking out. After playing Do U., I was disappointed when I finished this game saying to myself, "That's it? Man that was short!" Don't continue reading this review as I'm about to break a review unwritten rule and give a small spoiler about the game. If you do stop reading at this point, I will warn you now: Only pick up this game if you're a die-hard Beavis & Butthead fan.

Before I go, I should mention that I'm actually a fan of Beavis & Butthead. I liked the TV series, and really enjoyed the movie. The storyline boils to this (spoiler): You have to go around the school trying to get eight check marks on the game, then after that you have to do three college pranks, then finish off with a Virtua Squad type game. The graphics & animations are actually closer to the TV series than there first adventure game, but that doesn't always mean much.

The speech, all original material done by the infamous Mike Judge is actually funny at times, but nowhere as funny as TV series. The jokes got pretty redundant very quickly. If Beavis & Butthead got too annoying for you, you could turn off the speech and make it subtitles only, but that lost a lot of the luster for the game. The box claims to have new music from these great MTV bands (AKA their videos were shown once during 120 Minutes and were never seen from again). Nope, kind of false advertising. You heard this music when you went to the radio station (Communications) & at the frat house, but that was it during the game. If this game had less talking and more music to rock to, maybe it would have been more enjoyable.

Do U. boils down to "Do A, then B, then make sure you C & D to get item." Some of the puzzles were insanely difficult, then others were extremely simple. A good example was the part where you had to hit a golf ball exactly right to complete a part of a puzzle. This took me at least fifteen or twenty attempts before doing it correctly. I actually had to ask for help on a couple puzzles because some puzzles you had to grab an item from several different places in order to complete the puzzle, sometimes from obscure places.

My biggest gripe has to be the length of this game. It took me a total of two days (eight playing hours) to complete this game. And the ending sucked, to put it bluntly. While it is value priced at $29.99, that's too short for an adventure game. It's games like this that should put a refund policy on the game if you're not completely satisfied. Virtual Stupidity lasted me at least a good week. Beavis & Butthead Do U just fall well short.

Overall I can only recommend this for the type that must play every Adventure game or extreme fans of Beavis & Butthead. It was fun while it lasted, but it's just too damn short! If this had some kind of redeeming replay value, like alternative ending or visiting other colleges, then this would be a worthy adversary to advice getting. Since it falls short of this, grab at your own risk.
