Description: Technology has advanced to such a degree that it is cost-efficient for museums to digitize their collections. Museums are making images available on the internet and licensing them for non-museum Web sites, CD-ROMS, and other digital media. Museum are also buying and commissioning digital artworks, such as works made for the Internet, which are often showcased in both physical and online art spaces. Panelists will discuss legal decisions that may affect museums and explain real policies and procedures being implemented by some institutions to protect their images and artwork in the digital world.
