aztec medalionThe Hispanic Research Center (HRC) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), founded in l989, was created to foment high quality research at this University on the nationís fastest growing population. The Center functions under the Office of the Provost and Vice President For Academic Affairs. The interim director of the Center is Dr. Louis Mendoza.

The HRC's mission is to encourage, facilitate and support faculty as they pursue, conduct and document research, which will broaden and deepen the knowledge base on this for Hispanics across disciplines, across divisions and across colleges. UTSA faculty and the Hispanic Research Center are in a unique position to inform their disciplines and influence methodology relative to this population. Across the country, corporations, foundations, and private and public sector institutions are fast becoming aware of the challenge and the promise represented by this sector of the population. At UTSA, this awareness increases our responsibility, but also our opportunity to carry out our research mission.
