Strong Effort vs Team BC Pays Off

The Stars travelled to Kelowna to compete in the David Fryatt Challenge cup.The opening game in the single knockout tournament was against the always tough Surrey United League. The game was a hard fought even affair, with no score at the half. Midway through the second half, some tremendous work by Surrey forward Megan Blaker drew an extra Victoria defender to her, leaving Kristine Jacks wide open for a perfect pass which she buried in the Victoria goal. The Stars pushed forward looking for the equalizer, but it wasn't to happen as Surrey clinched the game with a goal on a counterattack with seven minutes to go in the game. Final score 2-0.

Sundays consolation game on Sunday morning against an undermanned Seattle squad saw the Stars trying to shake off the effects of an enjoyable midsummer Kelowna night. Seattle had few of their regulars, filling in with some players from Tacoma, as well as some local players. Nevertheless, a struggling Stars squad found themselves down 1-0 at the half. The players pulled it together at half time and managed to score three goals by the 60th minute. Then allowing Seattle a late goal. Final score 3-2.
