Council Election Results May 2003

Parties Share Power

Gedling’s politicians have agreed a power sharing arrangement which has seen the cabinet portfolios and committee chairmanships divided between the main political parties.

The position of Leader of the Council will be shared between the Leaders of the Conservative and Labour Groups.

Neighbourhood Wardens Launched

Neighbourhood Warden Logo SmallNeighbourhood Wardens have now taken to the streets of Gedling Borough.

The new service has been launched following strong support for the idea resulting from consultation with local people.

This included responses to a survey in the Council’s magazine, “Contacts,” and consultation work through the Gedling Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, including last year’s Nottinghamshire Police Fear of Crime Survey and events held by Gedling Partnership.

Revamped Bar Re-Opens

Richard Herrod Leisure CentreThe Richard Herrod Leisure Centre bar has just been officially reopened after a £100,000 refurbishment.

The work, which has been carried out by Bulwell-based contractors Harrington’s Ltd includes new bar, complete redecoration, new improved stage, new lighting, big screen and soft furnishings.

Preparations are now well underway for one of the highlights of Arnold’s summer events calendar.

The two day Midsummer Carnival, which is free of charge, is set to take place at Arnot Hill Park on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 June.
