Before you contact us,
here are answers to two common concerns:

Q: I have released or am promoting a new CD. Where can I send it?

A: Well, first you should probably know that Pitchfork already receives somewhere in the realm of 2,000 CDs per month, and as much as we try to get to all of it, our current run of five-reviews-every-weekday only gets us through 100 of them. We do listen to about half the records that come through, though, and if something strikes us, we'll find room for it. Regardless, we encourage people to give it a shot (but, for the record, we generally do not review self-released material). The address is:

Q: Can I write for you?

A: Well, first you should probably know that Pitchfork already receives somewhere in the realm of 50 submissions per month, and as much as we like to hire people, we often have to turn away talented writers. Also, we only hire about once every 3-6 months (all submissions we receive are filed away until that time comes, and then we go through all of them), so PLEASE don't take it the wrong way if we don't respond. If you want to try your luck, make sure you follow all of our submission guidelines, which can be found here.
