Saratoga Mall is the epitome of "recycling". A nearly
vacant 400,000 sf regional shopping mall has been replaced with a 360,000 sf power center,
anchored by The Home Depot and Target. The existing mall structure as well as the parking
lot were ground up and used as fill and road base for the new shopping center. An
extensive grinding, steel separating and stockpiling operation was undertaken by the site
contractor in order to accomplish this task.
was responsible for surveying, site layout and infrastructure design, landscaping and
lighting design as well as construction observation services. Site demolition and new
improvements totaled over $8 million. With parking for over 1,800 cars, the center still
retains a greenspace coverage which is greater than the existing mall. A "slip
ramp" off Route 50 was a special feature worked into the design which allows a more
efficient traffic pattern and bus access.

two nearby intersections. The firm was also instrumental in obtaining variances for
several new pylon signs for the project.
