Saratoga Mall is the epitome of "recycling". A nearly vacant 400,000 sf regional shopping mall has been replaced with a 360,000 sf power center, anchored by The Home Depot and Target. The existing mall structure as well as the parking lot were ground up and used as fill and road base for the new shopping center. An extensive grinding, steel separating and stockpiling operation was undertaken by the site contractor in order to accomplish this task.

C.T. Male was responsible for surveying, site layout and infrastructure design, landscaping and lighting design as well as construction observation services. Site demolition and new improvements totaled over $8 million. With parking for over 1,800 cars, the center still retains a greenspace coverage which is greater than the existing mall. A "slip ramp" off Route 50 was a special feature worked into the design which allows a more efficient traffic pattern and bus access.

Off-site improvements which CT Male designed include traffic signal upgrades and lane widenings at two nearby intersections. The firm was also instrumental in obtaining variances for several new pylon signs for the project.

Other tenants include: Eckerd Pharmacy, HSBC Bank, Staples, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, Petsmart, A.C. Moore and other yet to be named smaller retailers.
