The Flamin' Groovies - Festival of the Sun (1994)
In October 1987, the Flamin' Groovies, San Francisco's legendary Rock band,
played to their largest ever audience at the La Merce Festival in Barcelona
Spain. Estimates of the audience were around 70,000 people.
Dave Edmunds, their mentor and producer of some of their finest albums,
listened from the side of the stage as the band ripped into their classic
repertoire with an energy that was ferocious. The audience demanded - and
received - six encores. They didn't let the band finish until 4 AM.
The Flamin' Groovies did not tour again after this time, and in 1990,
they finally disbanded after a 25 year career.
These recordings represent this classic band at one of it's finest moments.
