The SMC is housed within the Royal Institution but independent from any single scientific body. To preserve our independence, funding has been sought from a wide variety of sources, none of which have contributed more
than 5% of the total running costs which are estimated at £200,000 per year.

Corporate groups, industry, professional associations and individuals are all taking part in funding the Science Media Centre. The list below shows the organisations that are already committed funds towards our running

Refurbishment costs were met by a generous donation from John Ritblat. In recognition of this vital support, the main office of the Science Media Centre has been named the John Ritblat room. The Dixon Group PLC generously donated our IT equipment. Trinity Mirror PLC have donated money towards furnishing the Centre.
