SYMPOSIUM
During the last year, doctors have been organizing throughout the country and
have begun to join labor unions as a way to level the managed care playing field
when negotiating fees with health care plans. The Committee for Quality Orthopaedic
Health Care ("The Orthopaedic PAC") is sponsoring a symposium which will explore
the "pros and cons" of physicians joining unions, the legal problems which have been
encountered when doctors have attempted to organize, and possible Federal
legislative alternatives to physician forming unions. Invited panel members,
include Congressional and Administrative officials, as well as an orthopaedic
surgeon labor union activist.
