City’s honor students to be feted Tuesday by PLBC legislators, staff at Benjamin Franklin H.S.

Harrisburg, June 20 – State Rep. LeAnna Washington, D-Phila., announced today that a special recognition ceremony honoring Philadelphia’s estimated 800 students inducted into the National Honor Society this year will be held June 24 at Benjamin Franklin High School, 550 N. Broad St., beginning at 6 p.m.

The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, which Washington serves as chairwoman, is sponsoring the event with the assistance of Dr. Norman Spencer, PLBC education advisory committee chairman, the legislator said.

"The honor students are the cream of the crop for the city’s schools and only earn this status by working hard and being open to learning new things," Washington said. "They should be recognized for their achievements and celebrated for their future potential."

Press coverage is invited. The high school can be contacted at (215) 299-7840 for further information on arrangements.

(In the event that the state House and Senate are in session on Tuesday, legislators will be represented by staff).
