Laci Denise Peterson, 27, was reported missing from her Modesto home on Christmas Eve 2002. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her disappearance. Police conducted searches throughout Northern California, including the San Francisco Bay. Her body washed ashore near Richmond, Calif., on April 14, 2003, and the body of her unborn son was discovered about a mile away on April 13. Prosecutors have filed two murder charges against her husband Scott Peterson.
