Weather Radio program
The Weather Radio program has already distributed over 8,600 weather radios at
no cost or reduced cost to public officials, schools, nursing homes, and the
citizens of South Dakota. A weather radio broadcasts instant messages from the
National Weather Service (NWS) such as weather warnings, watches, forecasts, and
other non-weather related hazard information 24 hours a day. In an attempt to
make it more feasible for citizens to own a weather radio, the Division of
Emergency Management has decided to lower the already discounted price to
$25.00. If you would like more information about the weather radio program,
visit
http://www.state.sd.us/homeland/weather radio/weatherradios.htm or call
(605) 773-3231.

"Ready Campaign"
The program includes public service announcements that encourage families to
have a communications plan so members can reach each other in an emergency; to
