The majority of the universe may remain hidden for a while longer if dark energy is Super WIMP-y. A new proposal by Jonathan Feng of the University of California, Irvine, and his colleagues conjectures a new type of particle that is even less weakly interacting than WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles). These SuperWIMPs may be detectable via an excess of gamma rays but are unlikely to be found any other way.

The paper was published today in Physical Review Letters.
