I decided to make me an afghan that wasn't made out of scarp yarns.  I like those afghans, but wanted something really nice.

Afghans - CROCHET QUICK AND FUN

Main Color (MC) worsted weight yarn 24 oz approximately
Contrasting Color (CC) worsted weight yarn 30 oz approximately
Size P hook

 Approximately 45" x 75"

 Row 1: Ch 86, sc in second ch from hook, *skip next 2 ch, shell (5 dc) in next ch, skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first sc *skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, shell in next sc, rep from * across to last 6 sts, skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in last sc.  (note: beg ch-3 counts as a dc, so youll have 3 dc at the beg and end of this row).

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first dc *skip next 2 dc, shell in next sc, skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, rep from * across.

 Rep rows 2 & 3 until 75 or desired length.

 Edging: Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around with 3 sc in corner.  Join with sl st in first sc.  Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in ea sc around, with 3 sc in corner.  Fasten off.

 Weave in ends.
