SINGLES

Delta sings Not Me, Not I - but yes Delta, you are #1 with your latest single. This is her fourth #1 single from the same album which has not been achieved in ARIAnet history and is made even more special with the fact that her debut album is still at #1. For more Delta history making achievements please check out the albums section. In other news the only real chart movement came from American Idol Kelly Clarkson moving into the top 10 with her single Miss Independent.

No.24      THE BOYS OF SUMMER – The Ataris. 

US rockers The Ataris have just completed a tour here and their hard work has produced their first appearance on the ARIAnet singles chart. The Boys Of Summer is a remake of the classic Don Henley hit, which peaked at #3 in 1985 and again at #9 for DJ Sammy last year. This single features on their top 40 album So Long, Astoria which peaked at #38 in March 2003.

No.40      WHEN SHE’S GONE – David Campbell. 

The “Son Of A Screacher Man” David Campbell, returns with When She’s Gone the follow up to his top 10 debut single Hope.  It was written by Steve Mac, Wayne Hector and Andreas Carlsson while the video was directed by Anthony Rose (Delta, Paul Mac and Love Tattoo).

No.59      THE POWER (OF BHANGRA) – Snap! Vs Motivo.

German pop duo Snap are back with a remixed version of their top 20 hit The Power.  This version first saw life as a bootlegged mix by Italian producers Motivo who combined the original with some Bhangra beats.

No.65      LESS TALK MORE ACTION – Tim Deluxe. 

Tim Deluxe had a hit just over a year ago with a track called It Just Won’t Do which peaked at #13 on the ARIAnet singles chart and #2 on the dance chart.  The current #1 ARIA club track, Less Talk More Action will be the first single taken from his upcoming debut album The Ginger Club Kid.

No.89      THE GOLDEN PATH – The Chemical Brothers.

Dance kings The Chemical Brothers are about to release a “best of” compilation titled 93-03 The Singles. With this release also comes a brand new single, The Golden Path, which features Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne. The Chemical Brothers have had three top 30 hits with Hey Boy, Hey Girl, Block Rockin’ Beats and Setting Sun.

ALBUMS

Four new Top 10 entries could do nothing to displace the longest running #1 of the year. You guessed it Delta Goodrem is on top for the 19th week. This makes her equal with Savage Garden’s eponymous debut album and only six weeks behind John Farnham’s record for Whispering Jack

No.2        RESULTS MAY VARY – Limp Bizkit. 

Just missing out on the #1 spot Limp Bizkit return with their 4th album Results May Vary (already certified Gold).  It’s been almost 3 years since Limp Bizkit released their 4x Platinum album Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water, which made its debut at #1. Limp Bizkit’s previous albums Three Dollar Bill Y’all (July ‘99) & Significant Other (Oct ‘99) have both been top 40 hits, reaching high points of #32 & #5 respectively. Results May Vary features the single Eat You Alive, out this week.

No.3        THIRTEENTH STEP – A Perfect Circle. 

An impressive debut for A Perfect Circle (APC) who’s sophomore album Thirteenth Step debuts at #5 this week. Headed by Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan, and featuring guitarist Billy Howerdel,  drummer Josh Freese, Jeordie White, (aka Twiggy Ramirez) and guitarist James Iha, (formerly of The Smashing Pumpkins), A Perfect Circle made their ARIAnet debut back in mid 1999, when Mer De Noms entering at #2, and went Gold. APC have just been announced as part of the line-up for the Big Day Out 2004.

No.4        THE LONG ROAD – Nickelback. 

Vancouver-based band Nickelback return with their 4th album The Long Road.  Nickelback first found success in Australia when their 2001 album Silver Side Up hit the top 5 and went 2x Platinum, pushed along by the massive #2 hit How You Remind Me. The Long Road features the current top 10 single Someday.

No.9        DISTANT LIGHT – Alex Lloyd. 

Australia's leading male singer/songwriter Alex Lloyd, is back with his follow up to 2002's, top 5, 2x Platinum album Watching Angels Mend.  The multiple ARIA Award winner’s highly anticipated 3rd album Distant Light was recorded in Sydney and produced by Alex along with his good mate Stuart Miller.

No.13      SACRED LOVE – Sting. 

Multi Platinum, Grammy/Brit award-winning singer/songwriter Sting returns with his tenth studio recording Sacred Love. His first album of all-new material in more than four years, Sacred Love features special guest appearances from Mary J. BligeAnoushka Shankar. Stings previous album the Platinum accredited Brand New Day  peaked at #21 (Oct ‘99).

No.20      METAMORPHOSIS – Hilary Duff. 

Actress and singer Hilary Duff enters the albums chart this week with her debut album Metamorphosis. Hilary made her debut on the ARIAnet charts with the single Why Not earlier this year which made the Top 20 while the Lizzie McGuire soundtrack, on which she appears sat in the top 20 for 6 weeks, and went Gold. Her latest single, So Yesterday is current at #16. 

No.32      THE GRAND CHAMP – D.M.X.  

DMX debuted in the #1 spot on the Billboard charts with his latest album The Grand Champ making him the first artist ever to have a fifth straight album debut in the top in America. To date DMX’s only other ARIAnet chart appearance was The Great Depression (#99, Nov ‘01).  The Grand Champ features guest spots from 50 Cent, Eve, Jadakiss, Cam’Ron as well as legendary singer Patti LaBelle.

No.37      HI-5 HOLIDAY – Hi-5. 
Multiple ARIA Award winning kids group Hi-5 return to the charts with their 8th release Hi-5 Holiday. Hi-5 Holiday features a collection of brand new tracks from their fifth TV series now airing on Network Nine. Earlier this year Hi-5 had chart success with in the top 30 with Hi-5 Hits (#29, July ‘03).
No.53      LIVE AT SIN-E – Jeff Buckley.

Recorded over the summer of 1993, Live At Sin E was first released by the legendary Jeff Buckley as a four track EP, many of the unreleased songs recorded during the Sin E sessions appear on his critically acclaimed debut album Grace. Live At Sin E is the 6th album that has been released since Buckley lost his life in a tragic drowning accident in Memphis on May 29th 1997.

No.64      COLORBLIND – Candice Alley. 

20 year old Australian singer/songwriter Candice Alley first entered the ARIAnet charts with her gold accredited debut single Falling which peaked at #5 in June. Her debut album Colorblind was recorded in London, with producer Peter Vettese (Tina Arena, Annie Lennox, Melanie C) and features 14 tracks including the current single Dream The Day Away.

No.68      HI FIDELITY DIRT – Resin Dogs. 

Hi Fidelity Dirt is the sophomore album from one of Australia's finest hip-hop dance acts, The Resin Dogs.  Their latest effort is produced by the Resin Dogs and Jeff Lovejoy (the Cruel Sea, Lavish, Regurgitator) who engineered the band's acclaimed ARIA Top 20 debut album Grand Theft Auto.

No.70      THE VERY BEST OF…THE GREATEST HITS OF ALL…. – George Benson. 

Featuring 20 stellar tracks including the hits This Masquerate, Turn Your Love Around and the Aretha Franklin duet Love All The Hurt Away, The Very Best Of… was co-produced by George Benson himself. Since 1976 George has had 8 top 20 Albums, the most successful of which was Weekend In L.A, which peaked at #5 in February 1978.

No.73      NORTH – Elvis Costello. 

Declan MacManus (aka Elvis Costello) has made more than a dozen albums since beginning his career in 1977.  North is the follow up to his 2002 album When I was Cruel (#34, May ‘02).  North is a collection piano-based ballad written around the universal theme of being in and out of love.

No.82      ULTIMATE YES – 35TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION – Yes. 

Formed in the UK in 1968, Yes became one of the most successful and enduring progressive rock groups ever, producing more than 13 albums from their 12 year career. Ultimate Yes brings together the crème of the Yes crop featuring classics such as Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Starship Trooper, and I've Seen All Good People. Yes’ biggest album in Australia was Yessongs which peaked at #8 in July 1973.

No.83      THE CURSE OF BLONDIE – Blondie. 

After almost 30 years in the music industry, Blondie return with their 8th studio album The Curse Of Blondie.  Back with the original line-up of Deborah Harry, Chris Stein, Jimmy Destri, & Clem Burke, Blondie recently played several sell out shows around Australia. Since making their Australian chart debut in 1977, Blondie have had 5 top 20 albums, the most successful of which was 1981’s The Best Of Blondie, which reached the top spot.

No.92      FREAKY FRIDAY – Soundtrack.   

A remake of the 80's movie starring Jodie Foster the latest incarnation of Freaky Friday, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and newcomer Lindsay Lohan is set to be a smash hit ! The soundtrack features an unreleased track from The Donnas, A Simple Plan's remake of the Turtles' Happy Together and Bowling For Soup's genius rendition of Britney Spears' Hit Me Baby One More Time. Also featured is Australian band Lash whose songs Take Me Away and Beauty Queen both feature in the film.

No.94      LEARN YOURSELF – Beautiful Girls. 
Australian trio The Beautiful Girls are: Mat McHugh (Vocals and Guitars), Clay MacDonald (Bass, Vocals, Xylophone, Percussion), &  Mitchell Connelly (drums), and this week their debut album Learn Yourself lands the #94 spot. The Beautiful Girls previous works include the singles Morning Sun, Blackbird, and the Goodtimes EP.
