Prakash Kondepudi leads the Merchant business unit at InfoSpace. He is
responsible for managing and growing the merchant business, which is
one of the company's two fastest growing units.
Kondepudi joined InfoSpace in April 2000 as vice president of mobile commerce.
In this role he was instrumental in developing the company's mobile commerce
strategy and led engineering efforts to create next-generation payment and
wireless point-of-sale applications. Kondepudi was appointed executive vice
president, merchant, in February 2001.
Previously, he served as vice president, application services of Saraide,
Inc. (formerly saraide.com, inc.) from November 1998 until the acquisition
of Saraide by InfoSpace in March 2000. Kondepudi oversaw Saraide's acquisition
by InfoSpace. At Saraide, he led the development of wireless application
services, such as e-mail, content applications, Traveler's Concierge and
mobile commerce on GSM phones. Prior to joining Saraide, Kondepudi worked
for VeriFone, Inc., where he initially served as director of client/server
technology and was later appointed director of business development. At
VeriFone he directed the efforts of the company's transaction application
solutions and managed customer relationships, including Bank of America,
NPC and Hollywood Video, earning the 1996 Circle of Excellence and 1994
Excellence in Action awards.
Kondepudi holds a master's degree in communications technology from the
Indian Institute of Technology-Madras and a bachelor's degree in electronics
and communications technology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University
