Played in five contests, including the Cotton Bowl, as a reserve
defensive tackle … registered
five tackles, two TFLs and one sack … posted three tackles, two TFLs and
a 10-yard sack at Tulane … removed his redshirt against Houston and had
one tackle in that contest … added a solo stop against Baylor.
High School
Coached by Doug Black at Lancaster High ... a three-year
starter at defensive end who earned all-state honors in both football
and track & field … registered
228 tackles and 67 sacks during his career … earned first-team All-America
honors from USA Today as a senior … rated as the nation’s eighth-best
high school prospect by The Sporting News and among the nation’s top
10 defensive line prospects by Student Sports … also a first-team 4A
all-state, all-area and all-district selection … had 103 tackles, 28
sacks, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries as a senior … had
an eight-sack performance against Grapevine that year … added three
other games with at least six sacks … played in the 2002 U.S. Army
All-American Game … tabbed
all-state, all-area and all-district as a junior … posted 142 tackles,
22 sacks, eight forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries that year … earned
all-district honors as a sophomore after recording 17 sacks … also
a member of the track & field team for four years (shot put, discus) … finished
third (60-8-1/2) in the shot put at the UIL Championships as a senior (Class
4A) … won the 2002 Region II 4A shot put title (61-11) … recorded
the fourth-best throw (62-5-1/2) in the state that year (all classes) … placed
fourth at the Texas 4A Championships in the shot put as a junior (55-11 1/2).
Personal
Born 11/23/83 in Dallas … full name is Larry Dibbles II … father,
Larry, played defensive line at TCU (1970) and New Mexico (1971-72) and was selected
in the ninth round of the 1973 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings … a prep
honors student … has worked at day camp the last two summers and is an
active member of PALS (Peer Assistance & Leadership Service) … spends
as much time as he can with his family and watches TV in his free time.
