Tomorrow the largest mosque in Western Europe, built to accommodate up to 10,000 Muslims, opens in southern England. Ahmadiyya Muslims built the mosque in Morden, funded entirely by voluntary donations from individuals. UPDATE: “Ahmadiyyat” is a Pakistani Muslim sect, not Saudi, although they have much in common ideologically. Here’s a page at their official site that defends Ahmadi Muslims against the charge (made by other Islamic groups) that they are “agents of Israel:” Ahmadis and the State of Israel. The AI-Nahzah of 12 July 1948 wrote:
Even the Washington Post can no longer deny that we may have a little teensy problem with Wahhabi Islamist infiltration of American Muslim organizations and mosques and schools: Spreading Saudi Fundamentalism in U.S. (Hat tip: Nelson Ascher.) On Aug. 20, 2001, Saleh Ibn Abdul Rahman Hussayen, a man who would soon be named a minister of the Saudi government and put in charge of its two holy mosques, arrived in the United States to meet with some of this country's most influential fundamentalist Sunni Muslim leaders.
Muslims in the UK are building a parallel universe shari'a legal system under the noses of the British: British Muslims lean toward Islamic courts. (Hat tip: Jheka.) LONDON -- Two years ago, Mahmood Khawel, a 34-year-old financial consultant and devout Muslim from the Midlands city of Peterborough, wanted a quickie divorce.
A very interesting entry in Daniel Pipes’s weblog: CAIR and the IAP. For anyone who doubts the tight connection between the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)and the Islamic Association for Palestine, go to http://iap.org and note what turns up: a blank page with the title "CAIR List Server." But go there quickly, as IAP will no doubt eliminate this page shortly [Ed. note: Daniel Pipes wrote this on Sept.26, but the page still shows the CAIR title as of this writing.]. Then, to find out what the IAP is, go to http://www.iap.org. For an even closer, and even more revolting look at what IAP is about, see this page at their site: Zionism and Nazism. New revelations in the investigation of American Muslim Council leader Abdurahman Muhammed Alamoudi: Who, and What, Does He Know? ...prosecutors yesterday disclosed a wealth of new evidence aimed at showing that, at a minimum, Alamoudi has privately sympathized with terrorists. In a secretly recorded conversation after the 1998 bombing of two U.S. embassies in Africa, Alamoudi called the attacks by Al Qaeda “wrong” but then added: “What is the result you achieve in destroying an embassy in an African country? I prefer to hit a Zionist target in America or Europe ... I prefer, honestly, like what happened in Argentina ... The Jewish Community Center. It is a worthy operation.” (The reference was apparently to the July 18, 1994, car-bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires that killed 86 people.) U.S. Judge Theresa Buchanan ordered Alamoudi held without bail after the hearing. And that’s not all. Here’s an AP story that’s so poorly written it’s hard to tell whether there’s a connection to the Alamoudi case, but apparently another prominent Muslim organization has been linked to terrorist activity. The government filed documents today alleging financial connections between the American Muslim Foundation and Maher "Mike" Hawash’s Portland Seven jihad group, several of whom have already pleaded guilty: U.S. Activist May Have Been Money Courier. Other documents filed in court by the government show that the branch of the American Muslim Foundation in Portland, Ore., provided money to Patrice Lumumba Ford and to Ahmed Bilal. Ford is awaiting trial on charges of plotting to fight the United States in Aghanistan. Bilal has pleaded guilty to similar charges.
Hatzalah is an Israeli emergency response organization, comprised of volunteers who arrive after terrorist attacks, accidents and other emergencies long before the official organizations do, driving their personal vehicles into dangerous situations—sometimes while gun battles are still going on—in an attempt to save lives. They were on the scene and tried to save little 10-month old Shalhevet Pass when a Palestinian terrorist shot her in the head, in the Avraham Avinu neighborhood of Hebron on March 26, 2000. Yoni Tidi, an Israeli security expert who is known to many of our readers as a frequent guest on the Hugh Hewitt radio show, is collecting donations for Hatzalah and has made an MPEG video presentation on their work available at his web site. Check out the video and consider donating to this worthwhile cause through Yoni’s site.
Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siyassah is reporting that Kuwaiti security forces have intercepted smugglers with $60 million worth of Iraqi chemical and biological weapons—on their way to Europe: Kuwait foils Iraqi-WMD smuggling attempt. The pro-government daily reports Kuwaiti security forces foiled an attempted smuggling of $60 million worth of chemical weapons and biological warheads from Iraq to an unnamed European country.
It looks like our lizardoid plot to distract Hamas with a false flag operation has worked beautifully: Hamas: Arab State Foils Israel Assassination Bid. (Hat tip: zululizard.) BEIRUT (Reuters) - The Palestinian militant group Hamas said on Wednesday an Arab state had foiled an Israeli plot to assassinate several of its political leaders abroad. UPDATE: A few more details at the Jerusalem Post, who report that the Mossad is being oddly silent about this story. Hmm. Israel mum on reported capture of Mossad cell. Israeli security officials remained curiously mum over reports Wednesday that a cell of Mossad agents have been arrested in an unnamed Arab country for conspiring to assassinate Hamas leaders including the group's general secretary abroad, Khaled Mashal. ...
Last week I noted an Indymedia UK “article” that urged their fellow Morlocks to infiltrate a proposed LGF meeting in London, so they could attempt to discover the terrible truth about this evil, nefarious place known as LFG. But the would-be Nazimedia spies have discovered it’s not so easy to fool the lizardoid army, as Cox & Forkum illustrate. Bwahahaha! Yum! That was a tasty snack! Bring me another Morlock!
Here’s an eye-opening column from Michelle Malkin about our religious double standards, and political correctness run amok: Christian soldier, Muslim soldier. Six months ago, Jack Moody tried to send his son, Daniel, a care package containing a Bible study and other Christian religious materials. Daniel is a 21-year-old Army National Guardsman serving in the Middle East. He had written home requesting spiritual support while he risked his life abroad. The literature his dad packed included Christian comic books. But when Daniel's dad approached the post office in the family's hometown of Lenoir, North Carolina, he was told he would not be allowed to send the items.
A panel of Arabist appeasers, led by a crony of James Baker (who was a featured speaker at the lunatic Arab think tank, the Zayed Institute for Coordination and Followup) has discovered that all we have to do to win the love and respect of the Arab world is give them more money. A lot more money: U.S. Must Counteract Image in Muslim World, Panel Says. Mr. Djerejian, director of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University, said he tried to pick a bipartisan cross-section for members of the panel. Among them are Shibley Telhami, a scholar at the University of Maryland, and John Zogby, an expert on public opinion in the Arab world. Oh, and one more thing. In addition to the money, and letting lots more students from Arab countries enter the US, it would probably help if the US stopped supporting Israel and permitted the Arab world to push the Jews into the sea. Of course, they can’t come right out and say that, though. The Bush administration, for example, started a program called "shared values" last year, a series of television commercials showing that Muslims in the United States lead lives of dignity and equal rights. The advertisements were suspended after several Arab countries refused to show them.

The Palestine Solidarity Movement is still planning to hold their Jew-hate festival at Rutgers University, although they have been denied use of campus facilities. It’s anyone’s guess where they’ll put all those frothing, rabid antisemites, but they’re actively soliciting people to register anyway: The Rutgers Palestine Conference is ON and GOING STRONG!! Maybe a few more exclamation points would help.
Amina Lawal, the Nigerian woman who was sentenced to death by stoning for adultery and recently acquitted after an international outcry, now says she was never afraid and that her experience did not affect her belief in Islam—because she knew that shari'a is fair. Cradling her nearly 2-year-old daughter, Lawal yesterday drew a red veil repeatedly across her face as she spoke.
Palestinian non-governmental organizations and social welfare groups have refused to sign an agreement that they will not give money to terror gangs. RAMALLAH [MENL] -- Palestinian non-government organizations have refused to sign a U.S.-sponsored commitment that they will not transfer funds to individuals or groups that engage in attacks against Israeli civilians.
The newly appointed Egyptian Mufti (one of the highest clerical positions in Islam), Sheikh Dr. 'Ali Gum'a, issued a fatwa shortly after the beginning of the Iraq War forbidding Muslims in the US military from fighting other Muslims. "A Hadith says: 'A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not abandon him and he does not give him away.' ... The Muslim soldier in the American army must refrain [from participating] in this war, and if he cannot, he must serve in the [logistic] ranks, and if he cannot, he must submit his resignation. If he is forced to [fight] and is among the combating ranks, he is forbidden from killing a Muslim with his weapon; if he kills him in error he must pay reparation. If he kills him intentionally, he has committed the sin of killing a Muslim intentionally." Sheikh Gum'a has also gone on record supporting Islamic orthodoxy that says Muslims can agree to anything, sign any treaties, and then break the agreements as soon as they are strong enough: " The one with the authority to declare Jihad is the imam who has under his [command] a regular army capable of waging a war of regular armies. When the Prophet was in Mecca, he had no army, and therefore he could not declare Jihad ... that is, when there was a state of enmity between Muslims and the polytheists and there was harm caused to the believers by the polytheists, all the Prophet ordered his comrades to do was to say: 'You have your religion and we have our religion.' This Egyptian hate-monger also (unsurprisingly) supports and encourages suicide bombings and shaheed attacks: "The one who carries out Fedaii [martyrdom] operations against the Zionists and blows himself up is, without a doubt, a Shahid because he is defending his homeland against the occupying enemy who is supported by superpowers such as the U.S. and Britain." This is the mindset of our enemies, expressed by a “spiritual leader” who now reigns at the very highest level of Islam. The United States gives Egypt more than $2 billion a year in foreign aid, and they appoint an evil bloodthirsty freak like this as their Mufti.
The Guantanamo Bay investigation keeps getting more disturbing. The latest person arrested, civilian translator Ahmed Fathy Mehalba, tried twice to qualify as a military intelligence interrogator. The latest man arrested was identified as Egyptian-American Ahmed Fathy Mehalba, 31. He is a civilian who formerly served in the Army and twice started but failed to complete a military intelligence course to become an interrogator, two defense officials said on condition of anonymity. It’s becoming clear that Islamists have been making a concerted effort to infiltrate our military and security organizations.
At Power Line, the Big Trunk has a fascinating account of a meeting between President Bush and a group of rabbis right after Rosh Hashanah: Days of awe: Meeting with President Bush. (Hat tip: rizzo.) "[President Bush] talked about his concern of increasing anti-Semitism in Europe, and how he's trying to work with them to eradicate it. He said that we have to fight hard all the isms. Then the Hillel rabbi there talked about the swatiska that Rutgers had recently and the shouting down of pro-Israel speakers on various campuses. He said that he knows about some of that, and that he is keeping abreast of it, that it's a concern. He spoke often about peace and freedom, the importance of optimism and the love of America. He mentioned several times the speech he gave June 24, 2002, where he laid out his principles of fighting terrorism and said the key is to continue to stick to our values and not deviate from them. Read it all.
...that you’re not allowed to post comments, or use our forms to send email, it’s because I’ve had to completely block AOL addresses from using those functions of LGF. There is a group of truly nasty creatures who have been using AOL accounts to post ugly antisemitic comments, and because of the way AOL works the only method of blocking these haters is to disallow all AOL users. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but that’s how it’s gotta be.
One of the Islamic schools relied on by the Pentagon to certify Muslim chaplains has been under investigation for possible financial ties to Al Qaeda—for the past 18 months. (Hat tip: Sean II.) For the last six years, the Pentagon used an unaccredited school in Leesburg, Va., to train and certify most of its 13 Muslim chaplains. But in the last 18 months, the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences also has been part of a federal investigation into possible financial ties to al-Qaida, ABC reported. Eighteen months? Did the feds fail to communicate with the Pentagon about this investigation, or was this a massive sting operation? Unfortunately, I don’t think we can realistically rule out the former possibility.
When the story of the arrest of American Muslim Council leader Abdurahman Alamoudi (aka Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi) broke yesterday, I had a question: since travel to Libya is banned by the US, how did he get there without being noticed? The answer, according to Stewart Bell in the National Post: he was helped by the Libyan embassy in Ottawa, as part of a plot to transfer hundreds of thousands of dollars to US Islamic groups from the Libyan Islamic Call Society’s “Jihad Fund:” Libyan embassy accused in money plot. (Hat tip: rizzo.) Interesting that AP and Reuters wire stories make no mention of the Ottawa embassy connection or of a “Jihad Fund,” even though they do name the Libyan Islamic Call Society—so they must have been aware of it. A criminal complaint unsealed yesterday claims the Ottawa embassy issued visas to Abdurahman Alamoudi, an Ethiopian-born American affiliated with several Muslim organizations being investigated for terror financing. UPDATE: Since the media is totally falling down on the job (or crippled by political correctness) reporting this story, here’s the actual 29-page affidavit concerning the charges against Alamoudi. (PDF format.)
Egypt recently released from prison 900 members of the Islamic terror group al-Gama'a al-Islamiya, who plotted the murder of Anwar Sadat—to give moderate Islamists a helping hand: Egypt Frees 900 Muslim Militants. (Hat tip: Let’s Roll.) CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt released 900 members of an Islamic militant group that killed 58 tourists in 1997 and helped plot the murder of president Anwar Sadat, security sources said on Tuesday. Oh. Well. Since they renounced violence, I guess it’s OK.
Arabs Criticize Alleged WMD in Israel. At the U.N. General Assembly on Monday, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Egypt charged that the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency was holding back from criticizing Israel. In related news, six-year old Timmy Smith criticized his father John for having a loaded .45 pistol. “Why does daddy get to have all the cool toys? I want a .45 too! Waa-aaa-aaa!” said little Timmy, lying on the floor and kicking his feet.
Ten from Algeria held in Britain under anti-terrorism laws. LONDON (AFP) - Ten men, believed to be Algerians, were being held under Britain's anti-terrorism laws following dawn raids in London and Manchester, a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman told AFP.
Another Arab man has been arrested in connection with Guantanamo Bay; this time a civilian translator carrying CDs and papers that may have contained classified information: Guantanamo translator arrested. (Hat tip: Thom.) The FBI was called to make the arrest after U.S. immigration officials found a man identified as Ahmed Melhalba carrying CD-ROMs and paper documents allegedly related to the detainees.

Over the weekend, homes and stores in Beverly Hills were defaced with anti-Jewish and anti-American graffiti: Beverly Hills homes and stores defaced in graffiti attack. About 15 homes and stores were vandalized over the weekend with graffiti attacking various religious, political and minority groups, police said Monday. UPDATE: A reader in Los Angeles informs us that, contrary to the report above, synagogues in LA were indeed defaced over Rosh Hashanah weekend: I can attest to the fact that there was indeed graffiti spray painted on walls of at least two synagogues that I personally passed by on Sunday on Pico Blvd. One was Aish HaTorah at Pico and Doheny and the other was Bnai David a few blocks east on Pico. I did not see what had been written and on Sunday Bnai David had covered it with a sheet so that people going to shul for the second day of Rosh Hashanah would not have to see it.
A post by The Elder at Fraters Libertas demonstrates beautifully how dishonest and downright stupid the loony left’s Bush=Hitler nonsense really is: A true appreciation of the scale and scope of the horrors perpetrated by the Nazis should give pause to those who label Bush 'Hitler' and call Ashcroft a Nazi. I believe that it is insulting to the memories of the victims of the Nazi regime to use those labels with so little thought. If Bush were like Hitler, post 9/11 events would have unfolded quite a bit differently. Muslims would have been beaten in the streets of the US, some to death. Mosques would have burned. Muslim shops would have been looted. Legislation would have been passed stripping Muslims of all rights and within months camps would have been built. Muslim men, women, and children would begin to disappear into them never to be seen again. The Democratic party would have been outlawed along with all other political parties and most of its leaders killed or sent to camps. The media would be taken over and run by the state and any attempts at dissent ruthlessly crushed. Michael Moore would not be writing books. He would have been strangled with piano wire and left hanging from a meat hook (a heavy duty, reinforced meat hook to be sure). A vicious war would have been waged against all Muslim nations. Kabul, Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus, and Riyadh (for starters) would have been turned to sand. All oil fields in the Middle East would have been occupied. Citizens in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan would be bombed, brutalized, driven from their homes, and eventually killed to make room for the repopulation of those regions by Texans (Bush's volk). I could go on and on with this but you get my point.
The Lizardoid minion who runs the blog known as Strange Women Lying in Ponds had a close encounter with former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, at a talk in Coral Gables, Florida—and got to ask her a very LGF-ish question, only to receive a very Foggy Bottom-ish answer.
In his closing argument at his trial for terrorism and murder, Marwan Barghouti boasted that he was proud of his role in the Palestinian intifada—as members of the European Parliament cheered. Dozens of Barghouti's supporters attended the trial and cheered at the end of his speech. They included members of the European Parliament from Italy and France... UPDATE: It gets worse; Barghouti not only boasted about the intifada, he mocked Israeli prosecutors, saying that his trial was meaningless because he would soon be released due to Israel’s suicidal propensity for “good will gestures:” Palestinian Ends Defense in Murder Trial. (Hat tip: NC.) ...today he closed his own defense in a yearlong trial that has become a focal point for Israelis and Palestinians with a mocking prediction that he would be released soon in a prisoner exchange.
A certain imitation ancient Roman is at it again. Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for the apology (but not holding my breath) for his utterly baseless and idiotic allegation that I deleted one of his comments, when in truth the ancient Roman simply has a serious reading comprehension problem.
Here’s a tremendously revealing talk by former Ambassador Joseph Wilson at the “Education for Peace in Iraq Center,” in which Wilson demonstrates a level of moonbattitude that has to be heard to be believed. Among other outrageous and self-contradictory statements that wouldn’t be out of place in an Indymedia post, Wilson says that “warmongers” are assholes, and that the real purpose of the Iraq War was to benefit Israel. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page for the section about Wilson; here is a direct link to the MP3 recording of Wilson’s talk. (Hat tip: Oscar Jr.) And by the way, an interesting footnote; at the bottom of the HTML source of this web page is a section that has been hidden from view for some odd reason, listing the sponsors of the Education for Peace in Iraq Center: Arab American Institute, American Friends Service Committee, Fellowship of Reconciliation, Focus on American and Arab Interests and Relations (FAAIR), Friends Committee for National Legislation, American-Arab Anti-Descrimination Committee, American Muslims for Global Peace and Justice, Church of the Brethren Washington Office, Mennonite Central Committee USA-Washington Office, Muslim American Society, NETWORK, Pax Christi, Peace Action, Veterans for Peace, Voices in the Wilderness, and Women's Action for New Directions. (And yes—I made a copy of the source code.)
Robert Novak said today that nobody in the Bush administration called him to reveal the identity of Joseph Wilson’s wife: Columnist Refuses to Reveal Source of Iraq Report. "What's the fuss about?" asked Novak, a Chicago Sun-Times columnist who is also a conservative commentator on CNN.
In October 2002, fearful that his 16-year old daughter Heshu was becoming too “Westernized,” Abdalla Yones stabbed her repeatedly, then slit her throat. This happened in London: Father jailed for 'honour killing'. Heshu, who was described as popular and fun-loving, planned to run away from home after starting a relationship with an 18-year-old Lebanese teacher. The BBC spends an inordinate amount of verbiage making sure their readers know that this is a cultural practice; variations of the word “culture” appear five times in the article. Scotland Yard believe there were 12 'honour killings' in the UK last year and said they were not restricted to Muslims, but also occurred in Sikh and Christian families. This “handful” of people apparently includes an overwhelming majority of the Jordanian parliament, who recently rejected new laws against honor killings because they would “violate religious traditions.”
The Jewish Press’s Media Monitor section held a reader’s Favorite Websites poll recently—and look who came in at number 20.
The charges against Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi, an official of the American Muslim Council, have to do with making undisclosed trips to Libya, and accepting large sums of money from the Libyan mission to the UN: Man Charged in Violating Libya Sanctions. A criminal complaint unsealed Monday alleges Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi violated U.S. law by accepting, either personally or through the American Muslim Foundation he heads, $10,700 from the Libyan mission to the United Nations and by failing to disclose numerous trips to Libya on his passport. And get a load of this allegation: A federal affidavit filed to support the complaint alleges numerous links between al-Amoudi and Libyan entities. Al-Amoudi, 51, has contended that he was constantly looking for money for the Islamic advocacy group he heads and sought out Libya because it has renounced terrorism.
Michael Medved is interviewing Robert Spencer, author of Onward Muslim Soldiers, right now. You can listen on the web here: News Talk 870 KRLA.
Here’s more information about the arrest of American Muslim Council leader Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi; this is beginning to sound like quite a big catch: Muslim Activist Nabbed in Terror Probe. WASHINGTON - A Muslim activist whose Virginia home was searched as part of a federal investigation of terrorist financing was arrested shortly after arriving back in the United States, law enforcement officials said.
An interesting coincidence in this new column from Daniel Pipes; just as we note the arrest of Muslim leader Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi (in the entry immediately below), Pipes identifies the group al-Amoudi founded as one of those that helps Islamists infiltrate the US government: Pentagon Jihadis. The Defense Department responded last week to the chaplain's arrest by defending its hiring practices. Only under external pressure, notably from Sens. Chuck Schumer and Jon Kyl, did it agree to reassess them. Even then, the Pentagon insisted on reviewing the appointments of all 2,800 military chaplains - rather than the 12 Muslims among them.
Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi, a board member of the American Muslim Council and a founder of the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veteran Affairs Council, has been arrested by the FBI. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A man affiliated with at least two American Muslim groups has been arrested on criminal charges, federal law enforcement officials said on Monday.
The grand French experiment of incorporating Islam into a secular society enters a new phase with the opening of the first French The goal of the school, which began its first term this month, is to provide Muslims with an alternative to public school education, like those that French Catholics, Protestants and Jews have long enjoyed. That may be the French goal. But one of the goals of the Union of Islamic Organisations in France, a radical group linked to the militant Muslim Brotherhood, is to teach women their place: The six boys in the class were dressed in unremarkable casual clothing.

Anti-Israel automatons are barraging Amazon with negative reviews for Alan Dershowitz’s new book The Case for Israel.
I’m beginning to believe something is changing at the New York Times; an unflinching slideshow like this, featuring photos of Palestinian death cult glorification, would never have been part of their web site a year ago during the reign of Howell Raines: Street Scene in Gaza.
An excellent essay by former CIA director James Woolsey, who opens with a question that I am often asked: We are all Jews. I sometimes get asked these days if I’m Jewish — it’s my neoconish views on defense and foreign affairs, I suppose. For a while I would just say, "No, Presbyterian,‘ but I’ve started saying instead, ’Well, I anchor the Presbyterian wing of JINSA (the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs)." Read it all.
An eloquent obituary for Edward Said, one of the world’s most determined and industrious apologists for Arab terrorism, from Nelson Ascher at EuroPundits. His greatest success was to have coined the very expression "Orientalism", making it work, like similar terms (fascist, racist, communist), as an insult that, shutting up those with a different point of view, allows its users to avoid any discussion.
LGF reader “Connecticut Yankee” points out a new project by Frank J., a blog dedicated to publishing news from Iraq by the soldiers who are actually there, putting their lives on the line: Front Line Voices. Since, as the saying goes, perception is nine-tenths of reality, those who control what we learn about the war in Iraq and other conflicts have an immense power. They can spin a victory into a failure, and a perceived failure in the fight against tyranny can only strengthen the resolve of tyrants.
The table is still set for Rosh Hashanah dinner in the house where 7-month old Shaked Avraham lived. Two days after a shooting attack, in preparation for a funeral, an Israeli volunteer from the Orthodox Jewish emergency organization ZAKA cleans blood from the entranceway to the settlement home which was the site of the killing of an infant and a man during a family holiday dinner, in Negahot, a small settlement near the West Bank town of Hebron, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003. According to reports, around 21:00 Friday, soon after the start of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year holiday, a Palestinian from the Islamic Jihad group armed with an M-16 slipped into Negahot, where about 30 religious families live in houses and trailer homes on two barren hilltops. The attacker knocked on the door of the home, and shot a 30-year-old guest who answered the door, along with a 7-month old girl. (AP Photo/Dan Balilty)
Egyptian artists tie themselves in rhetorical knots, singing the praises of government censorship—because censoring their work keeps them from being murdered by the tiny minority of fanatics who follow a perverted version of Islam: Egyptian Artists See Merit in Censorship. "We used to protest censorship," said film director Inas el-Degheidi, known for tackling such touchy themes as teenage sexuality and gender equality in Egyptian society. "But now, society has developed in such a way that censorship sometimes works in favor of the artist, shielding him from society." Interesting take on it; society has “developed.” Substitute the word “devolved” and you’re closer to the truth. Egypt's censors — and its people — were not always so uptight. In the 1960s and `70s, movies shot here were much more daring, often featuring scantily clad women and more overt references to sex. Because we all know that nothing says “piety” like burning down a video store.
Once again, we listen to what the spiritual leaders of Islam are saying to the flock. Remember, this is a tiny minority of fanatics preaching a perverted version of Islam’s peaceful message. It’s just a coincidence that they happen to be doing it in the “holiest” cities and the “holiest” mosques of the Islamic world. From Umar Bin-al-Khattab Mosque in Doha, Qatar, on September 19, 2003: "O God, strengthen Islam and Muslims, disappoint infidelity and infidels, destroy the enemies of Islam. O God, grant safety to this country and the other Islamic countries. O God, give success to the Muslims' leaders." He goes on: "O God, support Mujahidin everywhere. O God, help our brothers in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Chechnya score victory. O God, destroy the unjust Christians. O God, destroy their rule and disperse them. O God, destroy the unjust Jews. O God, destroy the unjust, usurper Jews. O God, disperse them and shake the ground under them." From martyr King Abdallah I mosque in Amman, Jordan, supposedly the Arab world’s showpiece of moderation: "O Lord, deal with Jews for they are within Your power. O Lord, deal with Your enemies everywhere for they are within Your power. O Lord, make their plots destroy them. O Lord, support the mujahidin everywhere, in Palestine and every land where Your name is mentioned." At the Grand Mosque in Sana'a, Yemen: "The feet of the sons of Zion desecrate the courtyards and neighborhoods of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Zionists also spread corruption on the blessed land, shed the blood of our Muslim kinfolk, and violate the Palestinian people's honor and sanctities by exploiting the world's hypocrisy and the silence of Muslims and their rulers. Zionists have even decided to expel a leader from his country, just as they have expelled millions of Palestinians from their homeland. The sons of Zion occupy Palestine, and the United States occupies the land of Iraq, while Muslims' rulers ignore the occupation of the two countries. All this takes place because the Islamic nation has abandoned Islam." ... This brings us to the absolute spiritual center of Islam, the place toward which all Muslims face when they pray, in the country whose despotic leaders assure us repeatedly that they’re cracking down on the Islamic hate speech—the holy mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia: "O God, strengthen Islam and Muslims, humiliate infidelity and infidels, protect Islam, and disappoint tyrants, atheists, and the enemies of the nation and Islam. O God, elevate Your religion, Your Koran, and Your Prophet Muhammad's Traditions. O God, grant us safety in our homeland and give wisdom to our leaders." The imam goes on: "O God, support Mujahidin, who fight to elevate Your word and to strengthen Your religion. O God, help them defeat their enemies in Palestine and everywhere. O God, strengthen them and destroy their enemies. O God, destroy the Zionist Jewish occupiers, for they are within Your power."
This is little 7-month old Shaked Avraham, murdered in front of her family as they ate their Rosh Hashanah meal.
Those wacky Iranian mullahs have a real problem sticking to the script. In spite of their absurd claim that Iran’s nuclear program is only for generating electricity (an absurd claim that our media is happy to report as a possibility), today they defiantly boasted that they would not abandon the program—including their enrichment of uranium, which has only one purpose: Iran Remains Defiant About Nuclear Program. TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's foreign ministry said on Sunday Tehran would not give up its nuclear program, including uranium enrichment, despite international pressure to prove it is not developing atomic weapons.
Always eager to help the enemies of the West get their message out, JihadTV has aired another audiotape purported to be from Al Qaeda freakazoid Ayman al-Zawahri: Al-Jazeera Airs Alleged al-Qaida Tape. "The crusade camp that is led by America ... is targeting Islam and Muslims, even if it claims that it is fighting terrorism. ... This campaign is seeking to abolish Islam as a doctrine and a law," the speaker said. Notice how Osama bin Decomposin never seems to show up on any tape with dateable information.
The hatred on display in this photo is only matched by the inept construction of the mock bus these freaks are bravely attacking.
CIA Director and Clinton administration holdover George Tenet has requested the Justice Department to investigate the Bush White House for the leak of a CIA operative’s name to heavily medicated journalist Robert Novak: Bush Administration Is Focus of Inquiry. The WaPo article about this investigation is thick with unnamed sources, but very light on specifics. The operative's identity was published in July after her husband, former U.S. ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, publicly challenged President Bush's claim that Iraq had tried to buy "yellowcake" uranium ore from Africa for possible use in nuclear weapons. Bush later backed away from the claim.
Davids Medienkritik notices a telling difference between the way Germany’s Der Spiegel reports on the Italian power blackout, and the way they reported on the US East Coast blackout. The Italian blackout is blamed on power lines: SPIEGEL: "ITALY WITHOUT POWER - France rejects responsibility for the blackout. In Italy, the power went out in the early hours of the morning this Sunday, affecting more people than the blackout in the USA. In all likelihood, storms knocked out two major power lines connecting France and Italy. The search for a scapegoat has begun." ...while the US blackout is blamed on the weakness of America: "BLACKOUT IN AMERICA - The dazed world power was plunged into chaos by the largest blackout in the super power's history: Cities in the dark, planes on the ground, and a nation marching single-file like geese through the darkness. The land of limitless opportunity was shut off by a couple of exploded fuses. A world power between perception and reality - SPIEGEL TV with observations from a country whose lights have gone out."
Victor Davis Hanson will discuss his book Mexifornia on C-SPAN’s Booknotes program, today at 8 pm and 11 pm ET. A must-see; you can watch online with either RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.
I linked to this page a little while ago, but I’m reposting it because the anti-Israel hatefest at Ohio State University is drawing closer; here is netWMD’s page dedicated to information about the ISM’s links to terror groups, petitions to oppose the “conference,” and an automatic email form that sends to OSU officials and Ohio politicians: netWMD - Oppose PSM Conference at OSU.
The Palestinian Arab murderer who shot a baby girl on Friday was an Islamic Jihad member who had recently been released from an Israeli prison, almost certainly as part of the prisoner releases demanded by Palestinians and inexplicably granted by Israel. RAMALLAH, West Bank - A follower of Islamic Jihad carried out a weekend shooting attack on a West Bank settlement at the start of Jewish New Year celebrations that killed an Israeli man and a baby girl, the group said Sunday.
At Nazimedia UK, here are some hilarious photos from the “End the Occupation, Support Global Terror” march in London, including one of an incredibly lame cardboard tank: (Hat tip: Rob Hinkley.) saturday, september 27, 2003
Mark Steyn eulogizes Edward Said. (Hat tip: NC.) It's a generally good rule not to speak ill of the dead. I wish Professor Said had observed it in the days after September 11th when his almost every utterance was an insult to his fellow New Yorkers vaporized a few blocks from his ivory tower. He was a hugely influential academic, who found a way to make the institutional "counter-tribalism" (in John O'Sullivan's phrase) of America's elites pay off for him big time. His bestselling Orientalism is a deeply disingenuous work riddled with factual errors and with a selectivity of focus that negates its main claim. But it remains a stunningly successful example of how to parlay western self-loathing into bestseller status.
Khaled Mashaal, head of Hamas' political bureau, right, meets with Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, Lebanon, on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, to discuss a possible prisoner swap between Hezbollah and Israel. In addition to Lebanese detainees in Israel, Hezbollah is demanding that Israel release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. (AP Photo/Adnan Haj Ali).
As if you needed another reason to despise France, here’s a report that a book for religious studies teachers in French public schools has been withdrawn from sale because it contained antisemitic statements: France withdraws textbook. (Hat tip: Merde in France.) According to Liberation, one passage in the book spoke of "the Jewish people, who have only very distant and politically very suspect links with real Judaism". Unhealthy guilt feelings ... about the Holocaust. Well. We wouldn’t want to damage the self-esteem of French kids with unhealthy guilt feelings about the murder of six million people, would we?
In the wake of the Guantanamo Bay arrests of Muslim soldiers and chaplains, the Pentagon is going to take a good look at their Islamic chaplain policy. Here’s the crux of the biscuit: Whether the chaplains are Christian or Jewish, Muslim or Buddhist, the military relies on religious groups themselves to recommend and to educate their own candidates. The military says that because of the constitutional provisions that govern the division of church and state, only churches and religious organizations can ordain or appoint their own clergy.
Caroline Glick comes out against Israel’s security fence, and makes a strong case: Against the fence. Here are three falsehoods told about the fence. First, we are told it will keep us safe. Second, we are told that it is not a harbinger of the abandonment of over 200,000 Israelis who live on its eastern side. Third, we are told that the fence is not a border. Read the whole thing.
The Straits Times reports that a new generation of Jemaah Islamiah terrorists is preparing a series of attacks in December against Western targets in Indonesia: JI poised to strike in new terror wave. These new generation Jemaah Islamiah terrorists are every bit as deadly and fanatically anti-American as captured leaders Hambali and Imam Samudra, said intelligence sources. Remember though; this is just a tiny minority of fanatics who are perverting the true peaceful message of Islam.
Radical Islamic front group CAIR will be generously providing the Calgary Public Library with whitewashed Islamic propaganda: Libraries get new package to study Islam. (Hat tip: TS.) In a bid to quench Canadians' need for answers about Islam, a North American organization launched a national initiative yesterday to provide literature on the religion to public libraries.
Here’s a great op-ed by Paul Sheehan in the Sydney Morning Herald on why Australia is all the way with the USA. (Hat tip: Joel G.) The Prime Minister has a very specific threat in mind when he makes more deposits in the American bank of military goodwill. He is thinking about Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim nation, one of the world's most precarious democracies, and one of the most violent. Political reality, namely the overriding need to keep the peace with the Indonesians, dictated that Howard cannot say what the electorate tacitly understands, which is that we live next to a nation with 200 million Muslims, with a history of political violence, a tradition of political corruption, an increasing level of Islamic militancy, a place where scores of Australians and hundreds of Christians have been murdered, a nation that could fall apart, or under the control of Islamic fundamentalism, or both.
The antiwar protests in Europe don’t seem to be drawing the same large crowds this year. But here’s a sickening photo from the Berlin chapter, showing a Muslim woman wearing a Palestinian kaffiyeh, holding up a simulated “bloody” hand: A woman holds up her red-painted hand as she protests against the US troops in Iraq and against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian areas at a demonstration in Berlin on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003. About 300 people took part at the protest in the German capital. (AP Photo/Markus Schreiber) She is commemorating an infamous incident of Palestinian savagery, in which two Israeli reservists were literally torn to pieces at a Ramallah police station by a frenzied mob: This is how far the “peace” movement has degenerated in Europe, where terror supporters mingle with “antiwar activists” and no one even notices the insane dissonance.
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad made his final speech to the UN General Assembly on Thursday, no doubt finding a receptive audience for his raving loonosity: Malaysia's PM Makes Final U.N. Appearance. Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed has used almost every international podium to lambast the West for two decades, winning a reputation as a loud, and often blunt, champion of Third World causes. And also winning a reputation as a primo nut sandwich. "Today we are seeing the resurgence of European imperialism," Mahathir said. "Today we actually faced by the old physical occupation by foreign forces, puppet regimes are installed, dancing as puppets do." That’s right; things were much better when monsters like Saddam Hussein were ruling with the iron fist, killing, raping, and torturing at will. At least they weren’t puppets. On Thursday, Mahathir went beyond slamming the West. The United Nations, he said, had become a tool of the colonizers. The really ironic thing about this speech is that it was given in front of an audience composed of about 70% despots, cronies, and bagmen for the most repressive regimes in the world. Dissected puppets with reshaped organs, dancing on collapsing clay feet. Gotta admit, the moonbat sure can turn a phrase.
No virgins for this jihad boy: Muslim Militant Killed Making Bomb; Israel on Alert. Ahmed Hassan, a member of the militant Islamic Jihad, died in Saturday's blast in the Gaza town of Rafah when a bomb he was assembling or handling detonated prematurely, sources in the group told Reuters. One other militant was wounded. The United States, Canada, and now the European Union have all placed these Palestinian gangs on their “terrorist” lists, yet Reuters and AP and the New York Times still insist on calling them “militants.” |
