Multimedia Medical Teaching Projects

The project construct or infrastructure consists of four elements:

  • Stablize videoconferencing through the efforts of the Distance Learning Task Force
  • Video capture of course lectures using standard camcorder, document camera, Picture Tel and Pinnacle Systems Studio400 software for RealVideo web distribution; see sample RealVideo at http://www.real.com/
  • WebCT courses for the third year clinical clerkships, to convert lectures, patient problems, quizzes, and evaluations to a web-deliverable format; http://webct.usd.edu; login to USDSM courses using userid/password med_guest/med_guest
  • Microsoft SQL web database consisting of images, sounds, and video clips collected by physician faculty in the course of patient care and teaching
