In a talented group of pass catchers last season for San Jose State, Jamall was the team’s leading receiver with 62 receptions. Broussard also shared the team lead in touchdown receptions with five. He was sixth in the WAC and 52nd nationally in pass receiving. Jamall caught at least one pass in all 13 games last season. Twice, he had at least 100 yards in pass receiving. His season-best figures of 10 receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns came in a "must-win" over Louisiana Tech. Jamall also had big games against UTEP in which he had eight receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown and nine catches against 2002 national champion Ohio State.
Broussard began his college football career at Texas Tech University. He started four games as a freshman and caught 10 passes for 56 yards. In 2001, he was enrolled at the College of the Canyons (Coach Chuck Lyon) and caught 22 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns.
The graduate of Kingwood (Texas) High School was a first-team all-area selection his senior year. In 1999, he attended the Naval Academy Prep School in Newport, R.I. Broussard visited the Alabama and the University of Southern California and turned down scholarships from Oregon and Arizona State during the 2001-02 recruiting period. His younger brother, John, is in his first season as a San Jose State football player. Jamall was born in Beaumont, Texas on August 19, 1981.
