Someone save me before I become a "House-wife"!

Wow, long time no content. I had a feeling once I got down to Utah I'd be posting less often. When I came down here this summer for two months I abandon my blog altogether. Thus, this blog only really started August/September. There were a few random posts before that time but not much.

Okay so anyway, I am OVERJOYED to have Whitney back! I cannot tell you enough! When we went to pick my Mom & Whitney at the airport I completely surprised myself by taking one look at Whitney and bursting into tears. I had no idea that was coming I was just so happy to see her that all the feelings of missing her for the past 2 weeks that I had compartmentalized just came flooding out. So yes, we picked them up at the airport and went out to eat. Later we went to 'Disney on Ice" like I had mentioned we would before. It was very cute. Whitney had a blast and when it was over she said "I want to see that AGAIN!". Seriously though, if you get a chance you should go see a show like that, preferably with a child. I know most people probably think "lame", but really it's very cute and at least for 2 hours you can just revel in being a kid again.

I think my Mom & I went shopping the next day. I got some things for the house and my Mom got well, if you know her, you know she bought anything on sale. Yes, she shopped while she was here, and she actually left with a full suitcase full of things she bought. Only my Mother. I can't remember what we did on Sunday but my Mom and I had a nice time drinking coffee, sitting on the front porch and talking.

So, anyway, it was sad when my Mom had to go back on Tuesday. She cried which is very unlike her. Next time we'll see her it'll be Christmas, which is coming up fast! Also, Whitney's birthday is December 20th and we'll be in Washington for that.
As far as everything else, well I've just been busy trying to put the house in order. Whitney will start pre-school in a couple of weeks and I'm also going to sign her up for a little toddler ballet class. She's very excited.

Ewww...okay, I wrote this post last night and didn't post it. I can't remember why, obviously I got distracted. Sorry.

Anyway, we opened the door this morning and there was SNOW! We got the kids all suited up and went to play outside. They both looked like little pygmy sumo wrestlers with their snow suits on. Whitney could barely walk a-la "A Christmas Story". Shawn thought it would be cute to shove snow down my pants. Oh, wait, I think I may have done it to him first. Who meeee? (bats eyelashes). Anyway we got wet and cold and came in and had hot chocolate. Ewww...we are the Cleavers!

Right now I'm trying a new recipe Tuna-corn chowder. Sounds gross but it looks & smells really good! I also made sugar cookie dough for the kids to make cut-out cookies with later. It feels so Christmas. I want some old Bing Crosby Christmas music on right now!!!!

They'll be saying..."That bitch is ruthless - but damn she has nice hair!"

First off ...YAY!  Whitney  & my Mom are flying down tomorrow!!! I haven't seen Whitney in TWO weeks! That's definitely the longest I've ever gone without seeing her. When she was a baby the first time I ever left her for more than two hours was when she was almost a year old! Anyway, so I am soooooo excited to see my little darling! (Well, sometimes darling the rest of the time, a two-year-old.) =o) We also got tickets to "Disney on Ice" for tomorrow night which should be a blast. We're all going and Whitney will love it I'm sure because she's never seen anything like that before. Should be good-times all around.

Okay, secondly YAY me! Yesterday Shawn & I went to a local little pet store (NOT PetSmart) and I was pretty much horrified by the conditions there. The place reeks to begin with and they have waaaaaay too many animals for the size of the place. They had like 20 parakeets in the same size cage I have for TWO. They also had puppies and kittens stacked in little 2 x 2 foot cages one right on top of the other. Half the animals didn't even have food or water. The thing that upset me the most was a little Cocker Spaniel puppy. He had a bight red eye that was oozing and half swollen shut. This REALLY pissed me off. There is NO excuse for any animal to be sitting in a 2 x 2 cage with no food and obviously ill. There is NO excuse for animals of any kind to be neglected like that and if they hadn't wanted SIX HUNDED DOLLARS for the puppy, I would have bought it. I even discussed with Shawn last the night the possibility of me STEALING it! That's how desperate I was to help the poor thing! So anyway, I was pretty much livid when I left the store and when I got home I hopped on the net to see about contacting someone about the conditions of the store. Well I stumbled on the ASPCA site and found a contact in Utah. I wrote a letter stating where the pet store was, what I saw there, and that I would appreciate a response. Well guess how surprised I was this evening when I had an email from the ASPCA guy I had contacted?! THEY SENT OUT AN ASPCA INVESTIGATOR TO THE PET SHOP THIS MORNING!!!!!! How cool is that!? They also told the pet shop they have to have proof as of Monday from a vet that they are treating the little Cocker Spaniel puppy for his eye infection or they'll probably confiscate him. So how great is that?! Don't even try and tell me it ain't the "little guy" that ever makes a difference, even if a small one. If ALL I did, if the LEAST that happens is that the sick little puppy gets medical attention, I feel great. And if more comes out of me blowing the whistle, then all the better. I just felt really good about following my gut and doing what's right.

On that note here's a few wonderful quotes on the subject of making a difference...

"It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little - do what you can." -Sydney Smith

"How far that little candle throws his beams!
So shines a good deed in a weary world."
-William Shakespeare

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. " -Anne Frank

"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." -Edmund Burke

"Not only must we be good, but we must also be good for something". -Henry David Thoreau

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." -Mahatma Ghandi

Colby tells PetSmart just what he thinks...

Well I'm short-changin' ya a bit. I'll just post this email I sent to Shawn tonight while he was at work. I guess I tell stories better outloud, because when I told Shawn about the "antics" of our dog Colby, he was practically in tears from laughing so hard. Anway here's what I wrote:

"Hey there,

Hope you're night is going well. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you & missing you like always.

Well, I went to PetSmart to see if they had any screen (actually I went to Home Depot first and they only had huge rolls). Then I thought I should go get Colby's nails trimmed since we were there and it's only $5 bucks. Well, suffice to say - not a good idea. He peed all over the floor and I mean ALL OVER. Like LAND HOOOOO - Urine flood!!!! He also peed all over the nail trim girl and all over the table. Then all over the floor again. Like practically a gallon of pee. Talk about embarassing. All this and he only got one nail trimmed! ONE NAIL!!! Did I mention he was crying like a little BITCH the whole time?! (Just like he ALWAYS does - over NOTHING.) Oh yeah. So anyway the girl's like "Ummm...you're like gonna have to like take him to like a vet and get him put to sleep or something to get his nails trimmed. I've NEVER seen a dog LIKE this." Yep, that's our Colby. So then I walk into the main PetSmart to see if they had screen to put over the top of the aquarium so the little newt won't get out and LOW AND FUCKING BEHOLD, Colby takes a huge shit right in the middle of the store. It's safe to say I'm probably NEVER going back there, since everbody but me saw him do it. The lady who worked there was like "OH MY GOD!" and I turned around and looked - just in time to see him "finishing up"...and I'm like "OH MY GOD I AM SO SORRY - I'll clean it up.." She's all "Umm..no, no, I'll get it.." and gave me this forced smile and a look that said 'just-take-your-sleazy-retarded-dog-and-get-the-fuck-out-of-here-NOW'. So I did. I high-tailed it out of there as quick as I could, oh and did I mention COMPLETELY MORTIFIED? Oh Colby, will you forever be riding the short-doggie bus? Hmmm. Yep, that's our boy.

So yeah, anyway, I'm just getting ready to try and tackle some of the house. I definitly feel better today. I'm glad we got up "early". I think that made a lot of difference for me. Hope you're feeling better sweetheart. I love ya. - Heather (Utah transplant)

Driving down the road & I saw this...

Okay not really but click Here to make your own church sign.

Well, eww, I'm sicker than a dog. I've got the whole head ache - body ache - stuffy nose - someone just put me out of my misery thing going on. Hopefully I'll be feeling better soon because I haven't been sick in a long time and this royally sucks. I have literally done nothing today. By the way, I found out today that this site is 29% evil and 71% good. Find out the good/evil ratio of your site Here.  Okay short post. Hope everyone's having fun! Buhbye for now while I go take my vitimins and drink a gallon of orange juice. Bleh.
