polls throughout the New Hampshire Presidential Primary.
However, it isn’t necessarily the number of firms who
poll, as it is the amount of times they conduct and
release polls. Most firms released at least three polls,
with many conducting tracking in the last one to two
weeks of the Primary. That puts the total, not including
tracking, at over sixty polls. Does that sound like
overkill? Yes, and it is. In 2000, there were twice
as many public polls as there were in 1996.

Bob
Smith for U.S. Senate IN FLORIDA?!?...
Former New
Hampshire U.S. Senator Bob Smith tells a Florida newspaper
"Why not" run for the U.S. Senate seat in
Florida vacated by Bob Graham.
From the (Sarasota)
Florida Sun-Herald:
"My wife and
I certainly had no intention of re-entering politics
when we moved here," said Smith, who served six years
in Congress and 12 years in the Senate before his defeat
last year by U.S. Rep. John Sununu. "But ever since
Sen. Graham retired, a lot of people have been asking
me to run, offering to support me and help me raise
money.
"Of course,
I thought of it as just very flattering at first. But
the level of interest really seems to be increasing,
and so now I'm meeting with people I know and respect,
gauging the level of support I'm seeing and being offered.
... If it turns out to be as strong as it looks, I'll
probably officially announce next month and begin traveling
around the state to meet people, let them get to know
me and hear what they have to say. ... At this point,
my feeling is, 'Why not?' "
Smith said
he has an ad-hoc campaign committee in place, major
fund-raising resources to tap into across the country,
and an active financial account from his last Senate
contest -- an account, he says, that saw contributions
from more than 6,000 Florida residents.

KUCINICH
ACCEPTS POLITICSNH.COM's OFFER...A spokesman
for Dennis Kucinich's presidential campaign confirmed
late Thursday afternoon that the candidate has agreed
to have dinner with a lucky lady from a contest PoliticsNH.com
started to find him a possible First Lady.
Earlier today the contest started
to be co-sponsored by LiberalHearts.com, a match-making
website for progressives.
Dennis's full
statement to PoliticsNH.com reads:
I am very
flattered by PoliticsNH's offer to provide an opportunity
for me to meet one of the many dynamic women who have
contacted their web site. The response over the past
week has been amazing. Women really like the idea of
a partnership in the White House with a shared commitment
for peace and prosperity. We can work together to end
war and to nurture all children.
We are
in a new era where true inner equality requires that
a First Lady be respected for her intellect, her passion,
her involvement, and her commitment to people. I see
that demonstrated in the many communications which have
reached me since I began this discussion last week.
I want to thank each and every one of the women who
have called, written, Emailed or contacted the website.
I look
forward to our meeting.
