Chaika The Art of Vladimir Chaika

Colorado State University's Morgan Library presents an exhibition titled "Contemporary Russian Posters: The Art of Vladimir Chaika." from September 8 - December 5, 2003 in the First National Bank Gallery. The exhibit celebrates the 13th Colorado International Inivtational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE) and was organized by the library with assistance from the artist and the CSU Department of Art.

VLADIMIR CHAIKA was born in Kapustin Yar, Astrakhan Region of Russia in 1955. Today he lives and works as an independent artist in Moscow. Chaika was the 1995 Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition Honor Laureate. He has won numerous awards world-wide, including the "Golden Bee" for the 4th and 5th Moscow International Biennale of Graphic Design and the Silver and Bronze Medals at the 13th and 16th Brno Biennale of Graphic Design in 1988 and 1995. The subject of numerous exhibitions in Europe, Asia and North America, his posters reside in world class art collections like the Lahti Art Museum, the Ogaki Poster Museum, the Denver Art Museum and the Morgan Library International Poster Collection.
