SERENITY AFGHAN

Marilyn Williams designed and made this afghan for her "dear sister in law, Jewel Grant" who was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. Marilyn used the Fisherman yarn because "it tends to pick up tones of colors around it, which has a calming, comforting effect."

Marilyn says that she named the afghan Serenity because it is an easy pattern. "The crocheting is relaxing, " she says. "The crocheting is relaxing and the finished product is calming because it's is not a busy bright pattern."

PATTERN NOTES: This design works well with any size hook. The larger the hook the more lacy and open look. The vertical sides create a gentle scalloped edging. Unblocked, this has a rather blocky look. Blocking creates an open lacy look. The design will work on any even number of chain stitches-- it is easy to make the size you desire.
