CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
What an utterly awesome site!
Ever since I thought of getting back to good clean basic exhilarating fun (read as getting a Laser), I have been looking for a site that truly supports the design. As an engineer I like to experiment and tweak but most sites that I found were simply listing regatta results but your site has everything. Now I know how I can spend my winter when it gets to dark to sail. Keep it up and great work

hi:
i've been searching for laser related info on the web for a few weeks now, being the proud new owner of an old laser. Your site seems to be the most useful resource i have found yet.
thanks!!!

Hi Shevy,
I like your site enough that I'd even be willing to join the Irish or UK ILCA so I could get access if that would work [if you ever ceased to support us in the USA.]

Your site is Fantastic! excellant articles. What you do is a real benefit to anyone coming into the class. Thank you for your efforts.
I've got to tell you that the password protection was a big incentive for my son & I to join the Class - I couldn't WAIT to get that password - and it's really been "worth it"! What a wealth of information!

I'm now retiring and have just bought a second hand Laser for a shitload more than then [1972]. I haven't sailed one for A WHILE and was looking for a place to get back into the know. DrLaser was THE answer to my search. Thanks for all the great work you and many others have put into making this little boat an International Class with such a huge following.

I feel the need to rebuke those who believe that the work of the government/class authority is the ONLY useful work. To all of you, you are sorely mistaken. It is the work of people like drLaser (Shevy) that makes this class a valuable one.

The reason that drLaser (Shevy) occasionally gets under our collective skin is that he reminds us about things that, in the short term, might be easier to simply ignore.

Shevy administers the DrLaser web page for Laser sailing. It is a phenomenal piece of work, and a tremendous asset to the Laser Class. Do yourself a favor and check it out! I have never seen any other one-design class that has someone like Shevy, who dedicates so much of his personal time and energy to promoting the class, discussing sailing techniques, and constantly providing constructive feedback to improve our boats and the hardware we use to sail them more effectively. Shevy is intense, and we are all better off because of him!

What is also very true is that your questions have really focused my attention on the need for more accurate and better presented information on the products Holt supplies. Expect to see a marked improvement on the new Holt website due to go live early 2002 and the catalogue expected later in the year. I have also began a dialogue with Peter Harken and the design team at Lewmar about ways to streamline the information that we present as SWL and BL in the marine hardware industry. I can't promise it will lead anywhere, but that we have tried at all is credit to you.

I really enjoy your site. I know this is a labor of love for you, as I know that any income you may derive from the site, if any, can't even begin to compensate you for your time and the expense of maintaining the site.
Since I took up Laser sailing again this August after a ten year hiatus, I started looking at the site, and it has benefitted me enormously. I also appreciate your dogged pursuit of information on the new rules. We all benefit.
I hope you make it to the Masters regatta in Austin in April. I look forward to meeting you and shaking your hand. You've been a big help to me in my return to sailing.

I have enjoyed your website since becoming a Laser sailor about a year ago. I am a longtime dinghy sailor in a number of classes, but had never sailed Lasers except for a handful of college Laser regattas many years ago. The articles you have posted over the past few days have been extremely helpful.

Shevy:
We are so grateful for your regatta guidelines on the Dr. Laser site. They were a huge help. Many of our local yacht club officials have asked how we organized such an event and I've told them about your helpful info on your site. Of particular help was the budgeting info, with the fixed and variable expenses etc. There were other sections that were helpful, too. We did use the safety buoy/line and had 2 boats use it. All of it was wisely thought out.

We appreciate what you do for the Laser class.

Although English language was an essential part of the curiculums of schools in which I was graduated, my brain was unable to express the feelings I experienced when I was running between the special articles of drLaser... To find an article in a magazine or a chapter in a book which deals with sailing as a science, that is possible. But to find all these articles specially designed to fit and stimulate the highly performing human cerebral structure, that is otherness!

I have been visiting your site on and off for the past year, while deciding whether or not to get a Laser. You really have a nice web site. I did check out the instruction hot line and definitely have to come back to read more there.
