After suffering through a number of "Missing in Action" telegrams in the spring of 1945, Lambert was overjoyed to discover that his older brother Philip had been captured during the Battle of the Bulge, and survived near starvation to be liberated at the end of the war.


Philip quickly made Sergeant, but he suffered life-long health problems from the mistreatment he received as a POW.  He never talked about his experiences, and whenever family members asked, he would always find something else to talk about.
