NEWARK MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL: Was a starter his junior and senior years at Newark (Calif.) Memorial High School...key figure in his team posting a 32-1 record and advancing to the Division II state championship...averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots a game in 2000...shot 50 percent from the field, 42 percent from three-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line as a senior...was named a second-team all-state selection by Cal Hi Sports in 2000...also named first team All-Metro...concluded his prep career playing in the East Bay All-Star Classic by setting a scoring record with 42 points...was named the all-star game’s “Most Valuable Player.”
