After an intense interest in VR was expressed by participants at WWW '94 in Geneva, this email list was created as an open forum for the discussion, design and implementation of a platform-independent language for virtual reality and shared virtual worlds. We defined visions as to what we want to be able to do with VRML - we also have goals for our mailing list and conference.
Fall 2003:
Our X3D Working Group x3d-contributors list rejoins the 'BIG list'.
They carry the glad tidings that web3d.org supported 3D graphics language and architecture, now called X3D, or extensible 3D, is well on its way to ISO/IEE standards status. This working group has preserved while advancing and extending classical VRML.
