Those of you with a hankering for some true Neurotics musical lovin' will have to wait until late February, but if you just can't get enough, you can check out both Dirty Neurotic and Bumpy Neurotic, pretending to be those upstart Brit musicians John Lennon and Paul McCartney while on tour with the Mop Tops. They are supporting Randy "Elvis" Friskie while he travels British Columbia this month.
Even better, the whole Mop Top crew will be appearing on City TV Vancouver's "CityPulse" this evening during the 6-o'clock news program. So check it out!

The past five Neurotics shows have almost all had different lineups:
- Dirty (guitar, organ), Sticky (drums), Woody (guitar, harmonica), and Doink (bass)
- Bumpy (guitar, organ, melodica), Dirty (g/o), Sticky (d), and Swingy (bass)
- Dirty (g/o), Sticky (d), Woody (g/h), and Swingy (bass)—two shows with the same musicians!
- Lumpy (guitar!), Dirty (g/o), Sticky (d), and Swingy (b)—first time ever for that arrangement
Our New Year's show will feature the classic lineup of Woody (guitar, harmonica), Lumpy (bass), Dirty (guitar, organ), and Sticky (drums) for the first time since July.

Ah, the schedule of a rock band—always in flux. HourGlass has just been hired for a Christmas party on Saturday, December 6. Yes, two days from now. Yet our Neurotics show on December 11 has been cancelled, and the event on the 19th has been moved to the 21st.
But our New Year's show at Joe Fortes in downtown Vancouver remains rock solid. Buy your tickets now! (Yes, we know that the Joe Fortes page says a different band name. Ask Woody. It's his fault.)

Hey Jo points us to the worst album covers ever.
We cannot dispute them.

Whither Neurotics?
You might have wondered where The Neurotics have been since our last show in August. Even if you haven't, we're going to tell you.
Between early September and the time we resume our rocking schedule this month, we have all been working on our own massively self-indulgent solo projects, just like Kiss in the mid-'70s.
Here's what each Neurotic has been up to: - Lumpy has nearly finished recording Experienz Da Horz, his hip-hop/nü-metal album about life in the Yukon, where he has been living since earlier this year. He expects sessions at Whitehorse's huge GravelBar Studios (custom built to his exacting specifications) with the Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra to continue for a few weeks, so he will not be returning to Vancouver until mid-December, when he will perform with The Neurotics again for two dates, including New Year's Eve.
- Dirty continues the composition and recording of an opera about his childhood, The Cesspool Oratorio, with special guest stars P. Diddy, Oscar Peterson, Yngwie Malmsteen, Finland's singing sensations the Leningrad Cowboys, and former members of Duran Duran.
- Woody is working on a jazz fusion project, utilizing only homeless street people, full-time surfers, and Whistler-area ski bums with no previous musical experience whatsoever. He has struggled on a title for the as-yet-untitled album, but is leaning toward As Yet Untitled.
- Sticky is holed up in his home studio, reinterpreting the works of minimalist composers such as Aaron Copland entirely with percussion instruments he can play with his head, while keeping his hands and legs tied with plastic zip-straps. His tentative title for the work is 1200 Ouches.
- Doink and Swingy are collaborating on an album of Ramones cover songs performed instrumentally on twin pipe organs. In order to perform, they had to arrange for the demolition of a historic Montréal church so its organ could be moved next to a second one in a warehouse in Scarborough, Ontario. But, after being put to tape in decaphonic sound using 600 custom-tuned Neumann microphones, it will be worth it.
- Quickie and Bumpy are still working on the logistics of their face-off attempt to break the world record of longest sustained two-handed guitar tapping. Because of their combined volume and wankiness, they will compete in a sealed hut in the middle of the frozen surface of Lake Winnipeg, feeding themselves intravenously in order to maintain the proper gee-tar facial expressions, and keeping warm from the heat given off by their Marshall amp stacks and flying fingers. They do not expect to finish until the spring thaw, so we're unlikely to see them anytime soon.
Keep an eye on our calendar to see where we're playing starting in November. We plan to release our solo projects as a combined, sextuple-album box set sometime in 2004, with a special Limited Gold Edition available as either 8-track tapes or 78 rpm discs for maximum sound quality.
That's the plan. But you know, sometimes plans fall through.

Johnny Cash! Warren Zevon! John Ritter! Robert Palmer! All in a couple of weeks, baby. The cultural landscape is barren, barren.
At least we still have Barry Manilow.

Surprise last-minute show! We'll be playing tomorrow, Sunday, August 24, 2003, at the Vancouver Whitecaps soccer game at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, B.C., where they play against the Minnesota Thunder. The Neurotics rock out at 5:30 p.m. and then again (briefly) at 7:45.
Swangard Stadium is in Burnaby's beautiful Central Park, at the corner of Kingsway and Boundary Road, just across the border from the City of Vancouver itself. Come see a good game and some good rock!

People have already started booking us for Christmas parties—not to mention one event in September 2004. So if you're interested in a Neurotics or HourGlass party, check our calendar for available dates and then get in touch to book your own.

We told you. We have a show next Wednesday, August 13. But it's a private event, so we can't even tell you where it is. Sigh.

Oh, the pain! The Neurotics are not playing the 2003 Celebration of Light fireworks in Vancouver this year.
We expect some new shows to appear in the calendar soon, but it's likely all will be private events. So if you want to see us, you might have to book yourselves into the Joe Fortes Seafood and Chop House for New Year's Eve.
We'll keep you updated, anyway.

Check out the spiff-o-rama Canada Day 2003 photos!
Alas, they mark Lumpy Neurotic's last show with us for awhile. We will miss his blondness and truly sexy lumpiness. Or is it lumpy sexiness? Or loopy snuffiness? Or snoopy lankiness? Or snarky Lexus-ness?
Eh, whatever.
We've also updated the show calendar, too—but we're still waiting for confirmation on the Celebration of Light fireworks barbecues in July and August. As soon as we know, we'll let you know.
Right? Right.

Our free concert on the morning of Canada Day, July 1, will take place on the outdoor plaza of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in downtown Vancouver, on Georgia Street across from the main city library, from 9:00 a.m. until around noon. Come on down!

Ah, the disappointment. Negotiations between Neurotics personnel and those of Canada Day at Canada Place did not come to fruition, so our only Canada Day event is the Post-2-Post 10 K run at the outdoor plaza of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in downtown Vancouver, the morning of July 1. Feel free to drop by.
