Voiceglo plans include free features such as personal directory services and voice2email, as well as your favorite services including voice mail, caller ID, 3-way calling, call waiting and speed dialing. Patent-pending technology makes our service globally portable, so you can also take voiceglo with you anywhere in the world to make or receive calls. Because the voiceglo service is "digital", you and your callers will experience better voice quality than with traditional analog and cell phone services.

    • Free calls between voiceglo subscribers to and from anywhere in the world.
    • Freedom to make long distance calls to anyone within the United States and Canada for a low per minute charge or an unlimited flat fee, depending on the rate plan chosen.

  • Unlike a standard telephone service, your voiceglo number and service is globally portable, allowing you to make and receive calls with your service anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. No roaming charges!

Why is voiceglo different from other voice-over-the-Internet offerings?
Not only does the voiceglo provide high quality, free voiceglo to voiceglo voice communication with any other subscriber, anywhere in the world, anytime of the day or night, you can also make calls to and receive calls from non-voiceglo subscribers because the voiceglo network connects with the traditional Public Switch Network (PSTN). With voiceglo, you receive a complete phone line with a dedicated phone number that anyone in the world can call.. voiceglo's advanced technologies ensure quality audio over either dial-up or broadband Internet connections. And, voiceglo's patent-pending technology allows for global portability so you can make or receive calls with your voiceglo number anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. With voiceglo, you can use traditional "landline" phones with an adapter, or use a voiceglo USB phone with an Internet-connected computer. In addition to all of these voiceglo advantages, voiceglo's low flat rates will save you money over other services.

Can anyone get voiceglo?
Yes. voiceglo is available to anyone with an Internet connection (dial-up or broadband), anywhere in the world. You can use our USB Phone with your computer, or you can use our services with ordinary telephones with a voiceglo adapter ("MTA"). (The voiceglo MTA must be used with a broadband Internet connection such as Cable modem, DSL, T-1, or T-3.) Also, you will need a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) to establish and maintain a voiceglo account.

What happens if I change Internet service providers?
voiceglo is not associated with your Internet service provider (ISP). There should be no change to your voiceglo service if you change your ISP.

What are the bandwidth requirements for voiceglo service?
voiceglo uses advanced compression technology based on H.323.1, an international voice compression standard. Many factors associated with your Internet connection including delay, packet loss and bandwidth can affect audio quality. Generally, the best results are obtained with upstream and downstream bandwidths of greater that 64 kb/s in both directions. Telephone service can be obtained below 64 kb/s but audio quality may be adversely affected.

When placing an international call to another voiceglo subscriber, simply dial 1-Area Code-xxx-xxxx or click their hyper-link in the voiceglo directory. All calls between voiceglo subscribers are free, no matter where they are in the world.

Must I speak through the computer to use my service?
No. Although you can speak through your multi-media PC, you may prefer to speak through either a voiceglo USB phone or headset connected to your PC. No computer is required when you use a traditional analog telephone connected to a voiceglo Multimedia Terminal Adapter (MTA).

What type of telephones work with your service?
voiceglo works exceptionally well with USB handsets or headsets and a computer. With a Multimedia Terminal Adapter (MTA), voiceglo can be used with either corded or cordless ordinary telephones. voiceglo also works with a multi-media PC equipped with speakers and a microphone, as well as a WiFi enabled device such as a laptop PC, PDA or handheld computer.

Can I use my computer while I talk on the phone?
Yes, you can surf the Internet while on the phone with either dial-up or a high-speed Internet connection (DSL or cable modem).

Do I need to have my computer turned on to talk on the phone?
Yes, your computer must be turned on when using a USB phone. If, however, you are using ordinary phones with a Multimedia Terminal Adapter (MTA) your computer does not have to be turned on.

I have a fax machine. Can I use it with voiceglo?
Yes, voiceglo service works with any standard fax machine. See our rate plan for the cost of a dedicated fax line. An MTA and a broadband Internet connection are required to use your fax with voiceglo.

I already have a network in my home. Will I be able to subscribe to your service and use my existing networking equipment?
voiceglo will integrate with most networks easily as long as the network supports NAT (Network Address Translation) and DHCP. NAT is the translation of an Internet Protocol address used within one network to a different IP address known within another network. If your network does not support NAT or DHCP, you will have to add a router to your network.

Can I use multiple phones with a multimedia terminal adapter (MTA)?
Yes. Following are the four ways you can use multiple telephones with your MTA.

  • If you use a cordless phone system that comes with a base unit and extra handsets: One MTA easily converts an entire cordless system (base station with multiple handsets). Just plug the system base into the MTA and all the handsets will be converted for use on voiceglo.
  • If you have multiple phones (corded or cordless) that are not part of the same base station, you can convert the individual phones with one MTA as follows:
    • You can purchase wireless phone jacks. The base unit connects to the MTA and the wireless jacks plug into your household electrical outlets. A telephone connects to the wireless jack. Please note that only the phone attached to the base unit will display caller id information. Also, there may be sporadic dropped calls on the extension phones and an inability to talk on more than one phone at a time.
    • You can purchase a multiple jack extension connector, and then connect it to the phone port of the MTA. This will allow you to have multiple phones on a single voiceglo line.
    • An MTA may be directly plugged into the existing telephone wiring of a home. The manufacturer of the adapter does not recommend hooking anything to the adaptor other than a telephone, but you can seek advice from an electrician or someone who is familiar with internal telephone wiring on how to best connect it to your current wiring to take advantage of multiple extensions. We would advice that you pre-check the wiring on the jacks to make sure you don't have live PSTN voltage on the jacks before connecting them to the MTA (this can be easily done by using a line tester). Be advised that any damage resulting from practices contrary to manufacturer's recommendations for the MTA will not be covered by warranty.

My PC only has a USB connection. Will a multimedia terminal adapter (MTA) fit into my network?
You will need to switch your high-speed Internet connection from the USB port to the MTA in order to use our service. You should also purchase a router to connect multiple extensions. Or, you can simply plug the USB phone; voiceglo sent you, into the second USB port on your PC.

If I have a broadband connection, like DSL, with only one physical network connection, will I have to disconnect my computer to use the voiceglo?
With voiceglo, you can talk on your phones and surf the web at the same time. When using your traditional analog phones with a Multimedia Terminal Adapter ("MTA") you will need a home router or gateway to share your broadband connection with your computer and your voiceglo service. Or, you can use our MTA/Router combination to share your broadband connection.

Sometimes my voiceglo software/USB phone seems to disconnect or become inactive. I'm not sure why this happens.
Your voiceglo software refreshes its registration with the voiceglo system every 3600 seconds. If your computer goes into hibernation the phone loses its internet connection. Once the computer is again activated, you must shut down (close) the voiceglo webphone display on your desktop then restart it by clicking on the voiceglo icon on your toolbar.

In many instances, voiceglo's voice quality exceeds that available on PSTN or cell phone networks.

Forget local access charges and per minute long distance charges. With voicegloUnlimited, all of your calls within the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska) and Canada are treated the same. Plus, with any voiceglo plan, all calls between voiceglo subscribers, anywhere in the world, are always FREE!

What is PSTN?
PSTN stands for Public Switched Telephone Network. This is the traditional analog phone network through which traditional landline and cellular calls are connected. voiceglo accesses the PSTN when our customers place calls to traditional landlines or cell phones.

voiceglo call types:

  • voiceglo to voiceglo - These are calls you make to other voiceglo subscribers, also referred to as "on-net calls". On-net calls are free and unlimited for ALL voiceglo subscribers, regardless of the service plan you choose.
  • voiceglo to PSTN - voiceglo not only offers free calls within the voiceglo network, but also allows subscribers to call phones on the PSTN, also called "off-net" calls. Off-net calls outside your local area are metered in minutes. If you have voicegloBasic, you will be charged 3.9 per minute for any long-distance off-net calls to the Continental US, Alaska, Hawaii or Canada. If you have voicegloUnlimited, calls to the Continental US, Alaska, Hawaii or Canada are FREE. Off-net calls to other countries outside the US or Canada are charged at the low per minute rates listed in the voiceglo International rate chart.
  • PSTN to voiceglo - Another great feature that sets voiceglo apart from other discounted long distance calling cards or Internet-based calling services is that with voiceglo, you get a REAL telephone number that others can use to call you. Wherever you take your voiceglo account, your phone number will be the same. You are not charged for any incoming calls, on-net or off-net.
