"The Nation-State Is Finished"
Robert Bartley, a closet one-worlder at the WSJ, used his newspaper’s "conservative" clout to seduce American business leaders into sacrificing U.S. sovereignty for trade.

Stop the FTAA

The FTAA would bring the nations of the western hemisphere under the heel of a new regional authority that would have none of the checks and balances of the American constitutional system.

Insider Report

Earth Calling NRA. Last year, in response to numerous member inquiries regarding the influence of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission, the National Rifle Association sent out a form letter stating that "the NRA and its attorneys have found no substantial evidence that 'one world' groups pose a direct threat to our Second Amendment rights." However, data from important gun votes over the 103rd Congress demonstrate that, not only were CFR and TC members of Congress more likely to vote for gun bans, they actually provided the margin of victory on some key votes.

Absent the key votes of congressional CFR or TC members, the assault weapons ban would have been rejected in the House last spring and the crime bill/gun ban never would have survived either the budget waiver or the cloture vote in the Senate this past August. In five key gun votes (Brady bill on passage and conference version, assault weapons, and crime bill on the budget rule and passage), non-CFR/TC members of the House voted the anti-Second Amendment line just over 52 percent of the time; however, the figure was 70 percent for CFR and TC representatives. The Senate votes were even more dramatic, especially considering that CFR and TC members accounted for 15 of the 100 Senators. Counting four key votes (Brady bill, assault weapons amendment, and crime bill budget rule and cloture), non-CFR and TC senators voted 54 percent in favor of the measures while CFR and TC members voted 92 percent in favor of gun bans.

GOP Sweep in Statehouses. The November Republican sweep was as dramatic in state legislative races as in congressional and gubernatorial races. Of the 483 seats that changed party, the Republicans took 472, the Democrats 11. The GOP gains included 363 house seats and 109 senate seats that had been held by Democratic incumbents.

Considering that since 1980 an average of only 110 seats have changed hands in off-year legislative elections, 1994 was a considerable departure from the norm. Going into election day, Democrats controlled 24 legislatures, the Republicans controlled eight. Following the November 8th temblor, the matchup is fairly evenly split, with Republicans and Democrats each controlling 19 legislatures.

In 15 states, Republicans control the governorship as well as the legislature, compared to only seven states where the Democrats have similar statehouse control. The tilt could change even more dramatically in favor of the GOP in the days ahead; in Alabama as many as 25 Democratic members of the House and half that number in the Senate may switch to Republican, which, together with Governor-elect Fob James, would give the state a GOP-controlled statehouse.

Inasmuch as the Democrats have controlled the majority of the state legislatures for the past 38 years, there is at least potential now for a significant rollback of decades-old socialist, welfare-state policies. There is, of course, just as great a potential for the new GOP crowd to avoid the hard choices and to be satisfied with some minor tinkering. And potential exists for serious damage by Republican legislators who may be more inclined than Democrats to jump on the Gingrich-led bandwagon for constitutional amendments, or to support the call for a constitutional convention.

EU Welcoming Red Regimes. More than ten years ago, ex-KGB officer Anatoliy Golitsyn, in his monumental exposé, New Lies for Old, foretold the coming "collapse" of the Soviet Union and the "liberalization" that would follow. It was, he warned -- years in advance of the still-unfolding events -- all part of the "final phase" of the most elaborate strategic deception ever conceived.

Of particular interest, because of developments of recent months, are his warnings concerning the addition of a "reformed" Russia and its "former" satellite states into NATO, CSCE (Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe), and the Common Market (now the European Union). The establishment of the CSCE itself, Golitsyn revealed, was the culmination of years of patient work by one of the KGB's top agents in the Finnish government, a high-level minister, code-named "Timo," who had been recruited back in 1948.

At the December 5th CSCE meeting in Budapest, President Clinton and other Western leaders swallowed (for us) another deadly dose of this KGB-brewed poison. A few days later, EU leaders headed to Essen, Germany to put the final touches on preparations to induct Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Romania into the EU.

Rush, Rockefeller, and GATT. Before, during, and after the GATT vote, Rush Limbaugh sneeringly ridiculed as "conspiracy wackos" those who saw in GATT a threat to U.S. sovereignty. He snidely "confessed" on one broadcast that he was in cahoots with David Rockefeller, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Trilateral Commission.

As to Rush's actual relationship with Rocky, we have no special knowledge, but Rockefeller's central role in pushing GATT/WTO, EEC-EU, NAFTA, APEC, MENA, Mercusor, Caricom, and other phony "free trade" arrangements is beyond dispute.

The December 9th-11th Summit of the Americas in Miami, where the 34-nation Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) was launched, for example, was completely a Rockefeller show from start to finish. The summit and the FTAA were conceived, nurtured, and brought to fruition by the Council of the Americas (David Rockefeller, founder and honorary chairman), the Americas Society (David Rockefeller, chairman), the Forum of the Americas (David Rockefeller, founder), the U.S. Council of the Mexico-U.S. Business Committee (Rodman C. Rockefeller, chairman), the Council on Foreign Relations (David Rockefeller, former chairman), the Trilateral Commission (David Rockefeller, founder and honorary chairman), and the Chase Manhattan Bank (David Rockefeller, former chairman). This is all amply documented in photos, speeches, reports, newsletters, studies, and conference records sponsored and produced by these same Rockefeller-led organizations.

Mr. Rockefeller will be one of the keynote speakers at the Latin American Market Conference on Opportunities for Investment, Trade and Finance sponsored by the Council of the Americas and Forbes magazine, set for February 8-10, 1995 in Miami. It is another one of those confabs where the megabankers and corporate elites meet with their CFR cohorts at the World Bank, IMF, International Finance Corporation, OPIC, Ex-Im Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, etc., to devise new ways to soak the taxpayers for subsidies, loans, and guarantees in the name of "free markets," "free trade," "privatization," and "sustainable development."

Cathedral Not-so-Divine. The historic Episcopal Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York City has long been a center of New Age and radical-left "enlightenment" and high-brow Establishment "culture." It is home to the Lindisfarne Institute, which features such distinguished faculty members as Luciferian guru David Spangler. It is also the regular venue for programs of the Gaia Institute.

Among some of the recent notable events held at the Cathedral (according to the Winter 1994-95 issue of Cathedral) were: a celebration for Archbishop Desmond Tutu, honoring him as the "spiritual father of the South African revolution"; a Missa Gaia/Earth Mass; and a National Day of Prayer for AIDS, featuring homosexual playwright Tony Kushner. Kushner, whose Pulitzer Prizewinning play, "Angels In America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes," is all the rage now, had this to say in his AIDS "prayer" at the Cathedral:

Let us pray. God: A cure would be nice .... Enlighten the unenlightened: The Pope, the cardinals, archbishops and priests, even John [Cardinal] O'Connor, teach him how Christ's kindness worked: remind him, he's forgotten, make them all remember, replace the ice water in their veins with the blood of Christ, let it pound in their temples .... Your silence, I must tell you, so steadfastly maintained, even in the face of our appalling need is outrageous .... So many have died this year alone: In case you were absent, God, or absentminded .... Where, God, are you?... So a cure for AIDS. For racism too. For homophobia and sexism, and an end to war, to nationalism and capitalism, to work as such and to hatred of the flesh .... Don't expect that we will forgive you if you allow us to be endangered .... Be thou more sheltering, God. Pay more attention.

Who funds this stuff? The Cathedral's donor list is interesting, to say the least. Listed among its five largest donors ($250,000 and above) are "The Hon. and Mrs. Michael Huffington," they of the "conservative, family values" fame, who failed to win Dianne Feinstein's U.S. Senate seat, despite spending a personal fortune of more than $20 million. Other big donors: Colgate-Palmolive Co.; Goldman, Sachs & Co.; Hearst Corporation; Federal Emergency Management Agency; CBS, Inc.; The New York Stock Exchange, Inc.; J.P. Morgan & Co.; The New York Times Co.; Prudential Insurance Co.; Texaco, Inc.; American Express Company; Chase Manhattan Bank; Mr. and Mrs Christopher Forbes; Philip Morris Companies; Merrill Lynch & Co. Foundation; Mr. Donald J. Trump; Mr. and Mrs. Felix Rohatyn; Mr. Robert de Rothschild; Mr. David Rockefeller Jr.; Mrs. Mary C. Rockefeller; Mr. and Mrs. Steven C. Rockefeller; Mr. and Mrs. Laurance Spellman Rockefeller; Mr. and Mrs. Laurance Rockefeller; Rockefeller Center Properties, Inc.; The Rockefeller Group, Inc.

UN/NGO Meddling on Immigration. The Meiklejohn Institute, a UN-aligned non-governmental organization (NGO) which seeks to globalize America's domestic affairs, has announced an "Emergency Work Session to ensure and enforce the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and Stop Enforcement of Proposition 187." The session will be held in San Francisco on January 20th. Meiklejohn's efforts helped bring about this year's State Department report to the UN regarding U.S. compliance with the international "human rights" covenant.

FDA Change? Increasing public criticism of David Kessler, head of the Food and Drug Administration, has led to speculation that he may be forced to step down as a concession to the new Republican leadership on Capitol Hill. However, fans of Kessler's imperious style need not worry. The December 18th Washington Times reported that William B. Shultz will be deputy director of the FDA for policy issues as soon as the paperwork is completed. The ultra-liberal Shultz recently stepped down as majority counsel for the House Subcommittee on Health and the Environment, which is chaired by the vitamin-banning Henry Waxman (D-CA). Prior to joining Waxman's staff in 1990, Shultz put in 14 years with Ralph Nader's Public Citizen.

One possible scenario: Kessler will be jettisoned in Joycelyn Elders style a few months down the road, and the "moderate professional" Shultz will be trotted out as an acceptable alternative. Establishment Republicans, satisfied with the publicity over taking Kessler's head, would probably rubber-stamp Shultz's elevation with little difficulty.

Korea: An Enduring UN Outrage. The body of David Hilemon, the United States serviceman who was killed when his U.S. Army helicopter went down over North Korea, was returned to the West on December 22, 1994 during a formal ceremony. Six North Korean soldiers marched the plain brown coffin to the demarcation line in the truce village of Panmunjom. A seven-man United Nations honor guard met the Noah Koreans at the line and the coffin was passed from one side to the other with military efficiency. The UN honor guard then marched about 20 feet and draped the blue United Nations flag over the coffin. Every U.S. veteran must have rolled over in his grave. Hilemon pledged his life to the service of his country and in return was insulted with the flag of the United Nations.
