Stuart Hamilton

Stuart Hamilton, C.M. is the Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus of Toronto's highly successful series, Opera In Concert, which is currently celebrating its twenty-fifth season.

Well known as a vocal coach and accompanist, he has appeared throughout North America and Europe with many of Canada's leading singers including Lois Marshall and Maureen Forrester. As a soloists, he has played concerts across Canada, in New York and London, England.

Stuart Hamilton was the first Music Director of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble. He appears regularly for the Canadian Opera Company and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as lecturer and commentator and is currently the quizmaster for CBC's Saturday Afternoon at the Opera. As well, he has appeared as a panelist on the Opera Quiz from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He is in regular demand as a judge for competitions such as the CBC Young Performers' Competition, Opera America Auditions, the Sullivan Foundation Awards, the Oralla Dominquez Competition in Mexico and the George London Foundation Awards.

In 1984 Mr. Hamilton was awarded the Order Of Canada for his outstanding contribution to the musical life of Canada and in 1989 won the Toronto Arts Award in the Performing Arts Category. He is also the recipient of the Governor General's Award commemorating Canada's 125th year.

Although retired as Artistic Director of Opera in Concert, he continues his association with the company as artistic advisor. He also maintains a full coaching schedule and has begun to devote time to Masterclasses across Canada.

Carrol Anne Curry

Following a 20 year singing career which took her to Great Britain, the United States and from coast to coast in her native Canada, Carrol Anne Curry was, for 8 years, Music Officer at the Canada Council for the Arts. She has also held the positions of Director of Artistic Administration for Vancouver Opera and Affiliate Artist at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada and at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in the United States. Presently Ms. Curry is Managing Director, Dean Artists Management, Toronto, Canada's largest classical talent agency. There she manages the careers of many of Canada's best known singers and conductors, including Kimberly Barber, Gary Relyea, Catherine Robbin, Theodore Baerg, John Fanning, Timothy Vernon and Daniel Lipton.

Ms. Curry is also the voice of the Opera Update on CBC Radio Two's Saturday Afternoon at the Opera, and a frequent guest on the programme's popular Opera Quiz.
