ITV are currently casting for a major ITV series which takes 30 young lads (aged 18-24) back to 1950s style National Service for one monthto see if a spell in the army can reform their ways.
The 'bad lads' could have committed a huge spectrum of misdemeanours. They could have come into contact with the law, be a bit of a womaniser, be too lazy to study or hold down a job or be notorious for their rowdy behaviour in the union bar.
The series involves four weeks of basic army training and is by no way abreeze, but is certainly an adventure. Team-building skills and taking responsibility for others are vital components of the training. Whilst it is a very disciplined environment, it is certainly not just a case of a short, sharp shock; it's also about instilling some old-fashioned values like self-discipline, self-reliance and self-knowledge.
ITV produced 2002's award-winning Lads Army and nearly all the participants came away thinking the show was one of the most exciting, rewarding and adventurous projectsthey had ever undertaken.
The closingdate is provisionally the middle of February but may extend further. The information on how to apply is on the poster but basically the website is http://www.itv.com/badladsarmy.
