Each story must contain elements reflecting this year's con theme. You could write Jack/Will from Pirates of the Caribbean, or an AU where Blair is a captain and Jim is his cabin boy, or Duncan and Methos on the high seas in one of their "past lives." Or you could have Starsky and Hutch dressing up like pirates for a costume party and having a little fun in character. Anything goes, so long as you use the pirate theme in some context.
All submissions must be by paid (attending or supporting) members of SentiCon. They must include a title, author's byline, and name of fandom (ex: "A Pirate's Life" by Roger Jolly; The Sentinel).
Submissions must be spell- and grammar-checked in advance. They must not be part of a WIP (Work in Progress) or a section from a previously published story (online or in a zine). All entries will be judged on the basis of good storytelling, characterization, and best use of theme. All submissions should be saved as Word documents and sent as attached files.
Each entry must have a title, and should be no more than 3500 words in length. Only one story per author.
A drabble is a complete scene told in 200 words or less. Authors may submit up to three drabbles each. For drabbles, we will have Best Dramatic and Best Humorous categories. Authors must indicate on their submission under which category they would like the piece judged.
Send all submissions via email to Tam and put "Writing Contest" in the subject line. Be sure to put your name and the title of your piece in the body of your email, as well.
