	Cognitive Systems A collection of emerging information technologies inspired by the qualitative nature of biologically based information processing which is found in the nervous system, human reasoning, human decision making, and natural selection. These include artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary computation, knowledge-based systems, and artificial intelligence and draw on the advances in neuroscience, cognitive science, and computer science.
Emerging Technologies of Computational Intelligence
	Artificial Neural Networks/Connectionism An information technology based on the way neurons in the brain collectively process information.
	Fuzzy Set Theory/Fuzzy Logic An information technology based on the use of approximate information and uncertainty to generate decisions in a manner similar to human reasoning.
	Evolutionary Computation/Genetic Algorithms An information technology which mimics the processes of biological evolution with its ideas of natural selection and survival of the fittest to provide effective solutions for optimization problems.
