Amnesty International launches campaign to stop violence against women: Invitation
Secretary General of Amnesty International, Irene Khan will launch the organisation's new global campaign, Stop Violence Against Women, at a press conference on Friday March 5 2004, ahead of International Women's Day.

Panellists at the press conference will outline this pervasive human rights abuse. Looking at its causes, its global extent and will talk about the new campaign which includes a particular focus on violence against women in conflict and in the family.

WHO:
  • Irene Khan, Secretary General of Amnesty International
  • Eve Ensler, V-Day Founder/Playwright
  • Andile Gaelesiwe, survivor of violence, singer and activist, will join the press conference via simulcast from South Africa
  • China Keitetsi, campaigner and former child soldier from Uganda
  • Dr. Sima Samar, Director of Afghanistan Human Rights Commission
  • Patrick Stewart, actor and Amnesty International supporter
