While statistics show women are battered far more often than men, abuse against men can be just as devastating to the male victim. Abuse does not pick gender, nor race, nor financial standing.
The signs are clear, trust your instincts. Is there a history of past violence in your partner? Do you feel uncomfortable when they are around? Do things they say and do not measure up? Are they "big talkers" with nothing to show? According to your partner, is it everyone else's fault when something goes wrong? Your gut instinct will tell when you are in danger and you should pay attention and GET OUT.

The abuser will con you, not only emotionally, but financially as well. Violent partners seldom change, they only get worse. Have they referred to a violent beating as "a few slaps in the face"? They commit violent acts without conscience, without remorse and with a feeling that they are entitled to do so. They aren't!
Abusers are criminals. Violent criminals. If you are being abused in any form, be that emotionally or physically, you need to get out of that situation, immediately.
Contrary to what the abuser will tell you, you do have power, you do have control over your life. And there is Hope.
Without Conscience, the most dangerous kind of abuser there is.
