68: New York Knicks (31 - 37) - Friday, March 19, 2004, 7:30 PM - Madison
Square Garden Do The Right Thing New! Isiah Thomas has made a ton of changes to the once-sunk Knicks, but have they all been the right ones? Thomas called out his troops to "play hard" after a narrow victory against the lowly Wiz. What's going on with the Knicks, and Spike, at the Garden? And why is Nicky Knicksfan happy? Read on... Game 67: Pistons 89, Nets 71 - March 18, 2004 Nagged New! OK! Enough already! Quit nagging me about the Pistons defense! The Nets' get an earful of relentless Piston defense, getting beaten all over the court in the second quarter to drop behind by 19. The Nets attempt a comeback but thwart themselves with poor free throw shooting to win nothing but a moral victory by keeping Detroit from holding their seventh straight opponent under 70 points. Joe is mad as hell, and spouting off about it... Keep The Nets In New Jersey - March 19, 2004 Rally Again? | Kushner Waits | Lobby The League Updated! Not much interest in a quick rally on Sunday - so we're looking at April 11 (I know, Easter Sunday) as a potential rallying day. Again, we need to get the word out, and gauge interest, so drop me a line if you're interested in attending. In the meantime, feel free to start spreading the word at Sunday's game. Also, Both John Brennan (Bergen Record) and Matthew Futterman & George E. Jordan (The Star Ledger) reported yesterday that Bruce Ratner, through his spokesman, denied that he was having trouble raising the cash to acquire the Nets. A minority owner (of the Nets) said Wednesday that Ratner was having difficulty finding investors for a franchise that may lose $20 million this season and again in 2004-05. But Ed Stier, CEO of the Community Youth Organization (technically the Nets' owner), was quoted as saying "I'm very confident in Bruce Ratner, and I'm very confident that this deal is going to close right on schedule. Everything I've seen about Bruce Ratner and his organization since the sale was made has confirmed what I understood about them, which is why I have every confidence in the world." Charles Kushner is said to have reaffirmed the interest of his group in acquiring the Nets should the team come back on the market. Plus, The latest in the Keep The Nets In New Jersey project: Netsfan Martin Olech has compiled a listing of every NBA franchise email or snail mail contact for you to LOBBY THE LEAGUE to vote against the sale of the Nets to Bruce Ratner. State your case that you believe the group led by Charles Kushner was cheated out of the franchise by Lewis Katz and you'd like them to vote against the sale of the team to Ratner. Now, go get 'em! More info coming soon on other next steps, like another rally at the CAA. Don't give up hope, Netsfans - I'm not sure this thing has the legs to make it through to the end, and we're going to see that it doesn't! If you're still interested in the cause and haven't given up, email me and let me add your name to a list of folks willing to hold another rally, write to the NBA, the city of New York, the governor, the media and anyone else you can think of. Also, remember to sign the online petition from the Prospect Heights Action Coalition. If it's important to you to Keep the Nets in New Jersey and/or you are troubled by New York's illegal plans to exercise Eminent Domain, please help out our friends in Brooklyn who are likely to be displaced by a new arena by signing the petition. They want what we want - to Keep The Nets in New Jersey! Your View #13 - March 10, 2004 Matt And Matt's Excellent Adventure New!
