Rough Week
With injuries to Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin, the Nets struggled through maybe the toughest week of the season. Richard Jefferson continued to develop his offensive game, though, and Rodney Rogers provided a couple of solid performances.

Undermanned Nets Fall Short After Inspired Performance
Missing their two All-Stars, the Nets played inspired basketball, but lost a 12 point 2nd half lead, and fell one possession short of the Mavericks in New Jersey. Dirk Nowitzki hit a fadeaway jumper in the lane with :25 seconds left to give Dallas a 1 point lead, and the Nets turned the ball over twice down the stretch to give the Mavs the win. New Jersey got great performances from Rodney Rogers and their guards, Kerry Kittles and Lucious Harris, who looked completely different then they did Friday in New York. Richard Jefferson led all scorers with 22, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists.

Kidd's Status for Playoffs Still in Question
The Nets are seeking multiple opinions on an MRI that Jason Kidd took on Friday, and we won't know the diagnosis until Monday. Surgery is a possibility, and there's a chance he may not come back this year at all. In the meantime, the rest of the Nets must find a way to win some games without Kidd and Martin, who should be out another few games.

The Dallas Mavericks kick off a 5 game road trip with a visit to New Jersey to take on the shorthanded Nets. The Mavs are fighting for playoff postion in the West, and currently hold the 5 seed. They are 7 games under .500 on the road, but have won their last 2 away from the American Airlines Center. The Nets are without Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin, and will count on Richard Jefferson, who is averaging 23.4 points per game in his last 9 games, and has cracked the NBA's top 25 in scoring.
