Upcoming Pen Shows

Ohio Pen Show -- Nov 6-9, 2003:
Beginning on Thursday and ending at 5pm on Sunday, the Ohio Pen Show is a four-day extravaganza that every serious vintage pen collector should attend. The Midwest has always been a haven for long time vintage pen collectors, and many of the exhibitors at the Ohio Pen Show, exhibit only at this venue. Other exhibitors will travel from South America, Germany, Canada, Australia and Japan, as well as most of the fifty states, to exhibit at this year's show.

Modern Pen Collectors can also find some of the best of the tomorrow's vintage collectable pens from new pen producers including the only fountain pen made in Columbus, Ohio- The Bexley. Mont Blanc, Waterman, Krone, Parker, Stipula, Pelican, Conway Stewart and other new pens from around the world are also sold at this show at incredible discounts.

Custom pen makers, Joe Cali, David Broadwell, L. Michale Fultz , Jim Hickman and Chris Thompson will offer their unique, often one-of a kind pen creations for sale.

Roger Cromwell and Richard Binder will provide pen repair services including nib grinding and adjustment during the show.

Hospitality has made the Ohio Pen Show famous among pen enthusiasts around the world. From the wine and cheese reception, to the pizza party and the scrumptious dessert party on Saturday night, there is no shortage of opportunities to socialize and enjoy new and old pen friends. Along with morning coffee for exhibitors and weekend registrants, the show also boasts a complimentary shuttle service between Port Columbus Airport and the Wyndham Dublin Hotel.

The Auction on Saturday night has also become a cornerstone of the Ohio Show. Pen collectors bid on some of the best of vintage pens and pen ephemera.

The Ohio Pen Show opens on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 10am with 30 tables for weekend registrants and exhibitors, who are serious about buying pens. This two day-pre-show offers exceptional buying of some of the rarest and best pens available. The pre-show continues on Friday, Nov. 7, with 90+ tables. The public show begins on Saturday, Nov. 8. and continues Sunday Nov. 9 with 120 tables.

The show will include several seminars. John Mottishaw, will present " Let's get to the point-what makes a great nib?" that will explain the characteristics of various pen nibs, and will also cover tips on repairing nibs. Roger Cromwell, pen repairman, will be presenting a seminar on what to look for when purchasing vintage pens. Condition, general problems and repair of vintage pens will be discussed.. Steve Overbury, co- author of "Namiki- The Art of Japanese Lacquer Pens" will present a seminar on lacquer fountain pens.

Bill Lilly, the only know living person to have earned an "gold seal" from the Zanerian College in Columbus, Ohio, for his script calligraphy will be giving demonstrations throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday on the specialty of engrossing. Bill teaches his craft to students from around the world.

In addition to all the pen opportunities available at this year's show, The Pen Collectors of America ( PCA) will once again hold their Membership Meeting and Reception on Friday evening, following the pizza party.
