Government Action: The State of Florida, Office of the Attorney General, Department of Legal Affairs, filed a lawsuit on November 25, 2002, against KANE FURNITURE CORPORATION, doing business as ‘Kane’s Furniture’ and ‘Savon Furniture’, two of its individual officers, (Irwin Novack and Doug Bravata), and a California company (H&M Distributing) which supplies fabric and leather protection and warranties. The State charges numerous violations of Florida’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act, alleging a scheme to defraud, civil theft, common law cheating, selling used goods as new, advertising misrepresentations and finance and warranty violations. This 15 store retail furniture chain has generated a pattern of complaints regarding misleading ads, defective furniture, worthless warranties, unfulfilled promises of delivery and unfair billing practices. The government hotline for Kane’s complaints is (877) 385-1621, (English and Spanish). Kanes Furniture of Sarasota, 5252 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231 2. Kane Furniture of Ormond Beach, 280 S Yonge St., Ormond Beach, Florida 32174
