Brethren, Below is a link to an email that I received yesterday concerning the late Max W. Lynch. I think that most of you knew him, but in case that you didn't, I have included a eulogy which I presented at his funeral.
I think that Tony's testimony should be an encouragement to all of us who are active in evangelism. I preached with Max at Purdue and other campuses regularly for many years. I considered him a mentor.
Operation 30: Ruben Has a Plan
On April 15, 1974, Brother Jed Smock preached on campus for the first time at Indiana University in Bloomington. This is where God anointed him to proclaim a message of repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ, unwanted, uninvited, that has echoed throughout the major universities.
This year on April 15, Brother Jed will celebrate his 30th year of preaching on college campuses nationwide and beyond. He has declared the message of salvation to thousands of students, who away from home for the first time, abuse their liberties and freedoms, to engage in rule breaking, foul language, drugs, alcohol, sex and more. For 30 years Bro. Jed has remained faithful and for 30 years he has preached Monday-Friday, noon -5 PM in extremes of temperature to the future leaders of America. For 30 years, Bro. Jed has ministered to innumerable students, encouraged Christians to boldness, churches to holiness, and has been an example for many of us that know him personally.
Cindy and I would like to invite you, on April 15th, to preach, pass out tracts, witness or hold a banner at your local campus in honor of Bro. Jed's 30th anniversary and labor. We also ask that Christians unite in prayer on each campus for the Smocks’ work and all other campus ministers, and that there will be a move of God in the midst of great darkness. We are calling this “Operation 30: Storm the Campuses”
We would like to send you a free "Bro Jed 30 Years" button to wear as you minister on campus to debate and defend the Bible. We encourage ministers, public preachers and Christians to storm universities and colleges all over this country. You may write or e-mail Sis. Cindy with plans for your part in Operation 30, and to request a button. After April 15, please write the Smocks with a brief report to print in their next newsletter. Any pictures should be on sent on floppy disc, CD or by e-mail please).
