Take a sneaky peek behind the scenes!
Extra, Extra - Read All About It!
Carla
CARLA: Ever wondered what it would be like to speak to that pretty blonde girl who works behind the counter at the Coffee Shop? I think her character's name is Jenny. She's always there, but we never hear a peep out of her. At first I thought she was just ignoring me. I always say thank you when she brings me a coffee. She mouths the words, "You're welcome," but a sound never escapes her lips. This month, I took it upon myself to corner her in the Greenroom to see if I could get her talking. Here's how the conversation went.
CARLA: Put the cup down. Drop it! It's about time that I made you a cuppa.
EMMA: Really, it's okay.
CARLA: She speaks!
EMMA: Excuse me?
CARLA: I thought that you had permanently lost your voice.
EMMA: No, I can speak. I'm just not allowed to on the set.
CARLA: Why not?
EMMA: That's a good question! I don't really know. My role is as a Non-speaking Server, so I'm used as a background filler, so I can't really have lines and I don't like it!
It's sort of awkward, because the actors come up to you and say, "Thanks" and you can't say, "That's okay," back or anything.
